What's up Durango gang! Yesterday I placed an order for a 2021 R/T w/ the Tow n Go package. The lease is almost up on my 2018 R/T. Its been a great vehicle, no issues what so ever. We looked at the new Explorer ST as a replacement since it's very similar. The 2nd row has more room then the Durango by a lot. We have 2 small kids in car seats so that was attractive. It scooted along pretty good, felt pretty solid. But when Dodge announced the Tow n Go package, which basically makes it a SRT w/ the 5.7 Hemi, I knew that was what we were going after. Got to custom order all the stuff we wanted. Its gonna be a long 8 weeks! I'll definitely post pics when we get it [emoji106]

Hello,

Can anyone help me clear out-my confusion. I have ordered an rt with low gloss gunmetal stripes. From the website it shows that low gloss gunmetal is slighly off white/silverish color and not black. Is that true? I was under the impression that low gloss gunmetal stripes were black. Please let me know if anyone has had a durango with similar stripes on it...

I remember back on this thread some folks asking about the brakes/rotor. Here's a shot of the left front as I was installing ZL1 addons rock guards on all four corners (did same with the prior 2018, which I was happy about, saved much splash up, rocks and debris). The SRT Delux rock guards work fantastic, but note, I've learned to do some additional fixing with black finish screws to really lock tight (snow and ice build-up precaution). You'll see I stayed with T&G pack black brembo's as I was tired of all the "red" look out there—if they'd have yellow or pink, another story 😂. Oh, like the exhaust piping and muff's of the SRT, you'll see the SRT stamp on the arm in this picture. Truly, the T&G shares a big undercarriage parts bin with SRT. At 350 miles currently, I'll come back later with a description of fit, finish and experience. Cheers.

Here are our "Slotted" Rotors.... 09N24621 – Brembo Store USA
And Brem does not list a pad associated with SRT build, rotor f/r I see. In fact, I remember a number of sites discussing the replacement of the SRT OEM pads due to dust. One thing for sure, these stoppers do bite and STOP moreover than my 2018 RT OEM brakes.

Since many seem interested in durations for ordering, we ordered our TNG about Dec 7th, we were told the build was complete around Dec 26th, and the window sticker was available around Dec 31st.

According to the dealer, it was on the train around the 1st, showed up in Denver on the train on Jan 7th, and then up to the dealer for pickup today... So about 5 1/2 weeks total start to finish.

First TNG that this particular dealer has seen. Looks sharp, and we're looking forward to start towing with it as well as getting used to the noise. :) Pictures forthcoming once I have a nice day without hurricane force winds...

So if you're dusty...carbon pad change example. Note, this is performed on a 2019 DD SRT. @6:53 he mentions a torque setting of 110ft/lbs (in fact specs call for 111 ft/lb). However the T&G owner's manual calls for 130 ft/lb. While same 10" wheel and undercarriage bin parts as the SRT, I got thinking about this for the T&G and called both local dealership and Chrysler cust care. Both say follow manual, page 335 = 130 ft/lbs. Cheers.

funny and good that you checked as my charger manual was Incorrect and referenced 130 ft/lbs. however it was actually 111. it did not differentiate if you had dynamics package and the different wheels however the actual shop manual did state 111 similar to the HC.

It is strange that the T&G/SRT DD is 130 and not 111.

By the way, I went through 4 sets of powerstops, both z23 and z26 (there is no real difference other than the backing on the 26 to help with noise) and they were both great. 95% less dust, same stopping power basically and easy to swap especially when new. I never had to do anything else, same rotors and I didn't even have to remove the caliper off the rotor. I actually did my last set myself in the garage by myself. Getting the last pin of the clip back on with one person can be tricky but otherwise a fairly easy job even for the non mechanical people like myself. I see now he made it look easy with a screwdriver in that hole at the bottom, wish I had seen this video before I did my last set LOL

Great contributions - you guys are awesome. I picked up my TNG R/T almost a month ago and been wanting to post some pics / videos - just can’t get to it (also wanted the car to be clean - tough to accomplish in the NE this time of the year)

Coming from a 2020 R/T, I can’t agree more - it feels like the TNG pack addresses all those small things that always bothered me about the 2020.
  • exhaust note is awesome, but let’s not forget about the way it looks too!
  • the infotainment system is on another level! Seriously one of the best on the market.
  • layout of the center console is much improved and I’m so glad that they kept the important buttons - buttons and not Put everything on the touchscreen!

I didn’t see any pics of a spec similar to mine so I’ll try posting some pics soon.
Here is my spec:
  • granite on red with red calipers
  • safety pack
  • premium pack
  • leather dash
  • Alcantara headliner
  • every other option besides night/black pack /whatever it’s called (my 2020 had it and I was tired of the black wheel and mirror caps look as everyone is doing it now; besides I’m really liking the hyper black wheels) & sunroof (tiny ass sunroof is a waste of headroom IMO; unless it’s a panoramic roof, I skip it)

Happy motoring!

After a week of having the 2021, here's some things I've noticed:

hood/fender gap sucks big time, it was rubbing slightly on the very front/passenger side. I pulled the fender out a tiny bit, the part that goes over the head light, I didn't want to do it too much in fear of messing w/ the paint. The gap is pretty tight all the way around so not much room for adjustment.

One of the clear rock guard stickers on the lower door is a tad crooked, causing the corner of it to be off the edge a tiny bit. Hope it won't peel up over time.

They didn't put a light in the trunk/cargo area? My 2018 had one, on the left side near the cubby/storage pocket . It wasn't very useful before so maybe they axed it.

Driver side exhaust tip is crooked. I tried adjusting it but keeps going back. I think I'll loosen the bolt on the pipe clamp between the resonator and suitcase and see if that helps.

Other then that, loving the ride/handling and the destroyer grey is an awesome color!

So far for the past few tanks of fuel I’ve been getting between 17 and 18 miles per gallon. On my road trip I took over Christmas I was getting high almost 22 mpg. I did turn off all of the modes so it’s in economy. If I play with it in sport mode I can definitely tell that it’s using a little bit more fuel.

There’s not a V6 HEMI! You’re talking jibberish!
Besides, that’s not what I know based on the speeding ticket I got Dec 27! 😂

All kidding aside, I have been questioning my mileage which is why I have been calculating the MPG by hand of miles/gallon. I just don’t get how folks don’t get at least 15-17.

I wanted to let you all know how my experience was towing my 2021.5 NoBo 19.3 (4300lbs dry) camper this weekend. Prior to the TNG, I had a 2015 SXT Plus V6 AWD Durango. The 2015 didn't to do too bad towing but it struggled going up the mountains. It also had a bit of sway on the highway when trucks would pass etc. I also thought the brakes were not quite sufficient.

This weekend I went on a short camping trip. The site was only 45 minutes away but it was enough to get a grasp of how the TNG would do. I immediately noticed that there was less squat. As I started my drive, it was obvious that the TNG is much more comfortable towing. No unsettling bounce in the rear suspension. More than enough power and zero sway so far that I have noticed. No more white knuckle driving when taking the family out to go camping. Also, the brakes are amazing. When braking, it didn't even feel like I had a 5500-6000 load behind me. One thing I did notice with the TNG though, my dog needs to get used to the exhaust lol. He kept looking down at his feet like the world was coming to an end...

Overall, I am really happy with how it towed. When ordering it, I was a little concerned if I made a mistake not getting a 1/2 ton truck. I made the right decision for our family and rig...
