My question is Will there be any problems changing from regular 5w-30 to 5w-30 full synthetic oil? It seems that they are going to stop producing regular oil. I have been using Pennzoil 5w-30 in my 2013 Durango Crew since new. It has the 3.6 v6 with 126k miles on it. When I change over to synthetic what will my oil change interval be? Do I go by miles or engine hours?

You won't have any issues with switching to synthetic oil. In my 06 Magnum I run pennzoil synthetic, I change it at about 6000 miles. My Durango gets changed when the dash indicator tells me to, it seems to be 6000-8000 miles. I use Wix filters.

Thank you for getting back with me. By the way I have a 1969 Ford F250 with a 390cc engine. Since conventual 30 weight oil is getting hard to find what would be a good replacement? I have heard that diesel oil has the additives that these old engines need. What do you use in your 340?

I run conventional 10-30 in my 340 currently, I do use a zinc additive as well. I've been debating running synthetic, just haven't changed over yet. The engine only has 4000 miles on it since a rebuild.

Whoa! Back when it was all farmland! That is where my wife grew up and went to school though a little later than '71. I was in Tucson for a few years and loved the weather there. Fantastic thunderstorms that developed right overhead instead of waiting for them to roll in from the mountains down here in Phoenix.

Just noticed from your profile at you live in Tolleson. I used to live there back in 1971. Been in Tucson the last 43 years, retired aircraft jet engine mechanic.

Yeah my parents moved down here in 72, into West Phoenix. I remember it before it was overgrown with houses.

I showed up in '70 at 35th and Cactus. How about you? I really miss the old Valley of the Sun but I guess anyone from that era would. Our kids will never know what we knew like we would never know what our parents remembered.
