Didn't realize he was in Canada.

After this long something should have happened by now, Canadian order or not. Hopefully his dealer can get to the bottom of what is going on with it.

Seven weeks exactly. From order to dealer lot delivery, 7 weeks. Go tomorrow to pick up my 2021 DDRT TNG IN-VIOLET.

I may have one of the last In-Violet DDs... A couple weeks after I placed my order I noticed In-Violet was removed from the Dodge Built-it website. 😈

My TnG is replacing a VW Tiguan lol so I feel the pain.

That is not bad though 7 weeks for everything. I don’t see myself getting that lucky! But I have some time still. Like the in violet, love all the random colors they typically throw on every update on their models. It’s why when wife said F8 green I didn’t even deny it, all about it. But I typically being myself would of gone with either of the reds they offer. They’re all nice!!

Got word from the dealer today. Mine is unloaded from the train and sitting in Twin Oaks PA. Next step is the last leg which is on a truck to Rockaway NJ. I might see it this week!
Ordered 5/15 - Delivery 7/15? (9 weeks total if it makes it)

Picked mine up last night! Got a call from the dealer in the morning that she finally arrived. So mine was 2 days short of 2 months, order to delivery which seems to be very much on the short side of things right now. So I'm pretty damn happy. Hoping the rest of you waiting start getting some good news!

No doubt you have every right to feel that way. I've also considered canceling. I'm at 4 weeks and no VIN. I'd be LOSING my mind if I were you...But you've come this far and I think you should hang in there. I think you'd regret the Tahoe.

#643 ·
I also didn't put a deposit. You shouldn't have to! The way the car market is right now if you change your mind chances are they'll make more money on it anyways lol!

I had looked into the Tahoe's as well, love the new Duramax although not proven(but hey that's what warranty is for). I looked at a few but at almost $10k+ over the Durango it didn't justify it. I feel like I would have a better time driving the TnG too. But I mean if I don't end up getting the Durango by time my wife's lease is due in October (i think is the latest we can have it) I may have to cancel and just turn her car in for an Atlas(currently has a Tiguan) or something. Don't want to lol but financially would make sense.

Man this is just so frustrating. My dealer texted me this morning my expected ship of 7/24 just changed to 8/23. And then proceeded to send me pics of a nice new Grand Cherokee they have on the lot. I give him credit for trying lol, but no.

If you currently have a vehicle then just wait it out I guess. I kind of screwed myself I already turned in my truck, I mean it was smart because I cashed out nicely on it. But now I have my wife's lease to use only, luckily she works from home. But she's to excited for me to cancel she has always wanted a Durango and the tow n go fits my needs and budget. I will wait! I am just hoping the extra wait can take some of the edge off of the pricing when it comes down to the terms. Would be amazing if it gets discounted for technically being a year older haha.

From what I was told from 2 different dealers, the price won't change. It's not their fault that it is happening. 2021 cars are gonna be built all year because of how far behind. Look at used cars, the prices are crazy and people will buy it, so why discount the new ones. It's still new, just not as new as we would want it lol

Looking for some encouragement here... sat down with my local dealer April 30 to order a R/T, Tow n Go, few other small options. Order didn't get picked up by Dodge until May 24. Been getting the standard updates from Dodge "it'll be in production soon". Just spoke to my dealer today (who didn't even know about the factory shutdown) and they said to expect it on their lot in middle of September... Went with the Durango because the of the amazing capacity of the Tow n Go option, we have a small-ish travel trailer and wanted to take it on a few trips this summer. Have alredy been forced to cancel some of those plans... Unfortunately, I'm not finding much alternative as all dealer stock within a reasonable distance is extremely limited and pricey. Small saving grace is I have a purchase agreement at a very competitive price.

Yeah it sucks man. I'm on the edge to just cancel it and find something else. I really want it but then again, I have been waiting since may 15th, was told 7 to 9 weeks, and now here we are at week 10 and no updates or sign of it. Iv been car shopping for a different vehicle for the past week. If I can get a good deal on something else, I might just do it.

Brief update - Just received a call from the dealer my build is scheduled to be complete and on the train August 19. Fingers crossed it will be on the dealer lot early September 🤞🤞🤞. One interesting comment he made is Dodge has turned down several of their new Durango build orders. Speculating here, but I wonder if the backlog is long enough for the 2021 model year, Dodge is no longer accepting new orders (or limited) and we'll start to see 2022 model year orders trickle in when available... just a thought...

It is what it is! Economy and chip shortage is going through a phase lol. You either find a TnG at a dealer and pay the markup, or deal with the same situation on other brands. It’s not just a dodge thing. It’s beyond them. They did fail to have extra chips and etc like other brands but that’s business. The economy right now is all about timing if you want to save/make a buck.

This today after ordering in February…. Note that it was in D status months ago and fell backwards to C. Not sure what to make of the odds…

Good timing on the update, it has now progressed to D status. That gives it a 93% chance of getting built. There has been a lot of turmoil at the plant. In addition to the chip shortage and other supply chain issues the plant was flooded a couple of weeks ago in a heavy downpour that also put several thousand already built vehicles under water. It’s tough to say when but my sense is that it WILL get built.

I’m new here what does C and D mean? I ordered a DDSRT on May 25. So far only gotten a VIN. Thanks

There is a list for the codes would have to find the thread on it.

I guess they’re rolling out updates. I finally got a build date of 9/4! Wow crazy! But it’s progress I guess. That was from my dealer too not the chat. I’ll check on Monday with chat.

#659 ·
Yup you’d probably get a better update through the chat. As I mentioned above at this point it’s luck of the draw, all companies are going through it aside from ones that had extra chips on hand. We just gotta ride the wave, and be glad we don’t pay any markup or deal with any dealer schemes lol!

so wife and i pulled the trigger last night after she test drove a demo r/t at the dealer. went ahead and ordered with the options we wanted, which apparently the dealer will put in today. i didn't get a whole lot of good vibes about the potential wait time or luck-of-the-draw but but wifey wants wifey gets

it's a shame because i was able to locate one with every option we wanted within 50 miles from us but it had the dual stripes, which she didn't want in the least. i told her the next closest one was about 200 miles away, and every color seemed to be black

so i guess this will be the first post to chronicle this purchase

so we went with the r/t, awd, TnG (i had to have that), blacktop, tech group, premium interior, upgraded speakers, no console, and i cant remember which color she wanted but it was one of the grays.

this will be to replace her '18 grand cherokee overland. we were looking to get a 3rd row for a potential addition to the family, and it was between the durango r/t and explorer ST. had her test drive the explorer (used 2020 with 30,000 miles on it) and although she liked the ride enough to want it right then and there, i told her to test out the durango too. once she did she decided it was better

can't get over some of the things in the explorer that ruined it for us. although it had more power and better gas mileage, it certainly doesn't have the best tow rating. we tow a boat so for me i lean towards the side of overkill for towing ability. also pull an ~8,000lb camper with my 2500 with the 6.4 after i didn't want to use my 1500 hemi anymore. the center display literally looks like someone glued a tablet onto the dash, and vertical at that! and my phone with case did not fit on the explorer charger (works in the durango).

hopefully the process to get it isn't too excruciating and the used market stays up by the time we trade her GC in

Congrats! I am on the same boat, wifey wanted the F8 Green. There wasn’t any of them near me in any form lol. So said screw it and ordered how we wanted it. Hopefully the plant gets their orders in for the chips and gets pumping. Give those guys some OT I’m sure they’re wanting it! But your probably looking at around Winter time with how all our orders are going. Patience is key. The chip shortage is looking to cause chaos till the end of 2022 so I think the used market will stay stimulated. Honestly I think it may even exceed their 2022 outlook. But shit happens.

R/T Tow n Go ordered 07/22/21. Granite Metallic, with red Brembos, Black/Vitra Grey interior, Moon Roof, Cargo Plus Group and Technology Package with Harmon Kardon! Got my VIN and VON numbers Monday and I checked with Dodge. They advised they have all parts and will go into the build queue Wednesday 08/11/21! Hopefully Optimistic.

#665 ·
Damn you just skipped a handful of us! What the heck!! Maybe it’s your packages. The greys seem to be moving quick. I would think the tech packages would set you back, guess not. Congrats! Hopefully they follow through!!

So what I was told (dealer) was there are plenty of durangos ready to go but whatever component is missing is why they are waiting in queue. Like the "chip" issue.

Funny.... the other day I was going to replace a printer cartridge and the directions said to "save the chip" in the old unit to install in the new one. I'm talking about a proprietary sensor that was glued into the old cartridge that I painstakingly removed to put it in the new one. This "chip" thing is a nightmare on sooooo many levels
