Well, I went to the dealership last night to order a 2018 R/T. They stared the process but apparently the system crapped out so I have to go back today to finish and pay the deposit. They are requiring a $1K NON-refundable deposit. I'm a little leery of this since I will loose all my leverage on both trade in value and getting them to come down off of sticker once the car comes in - especially since Dodge probably won't have any cash back on a new model year. They said that this car will have "my name on it" so the deposit can't be refundable. I can understand a deposit, but the vehicle and options we spec'd out seems to be a very popular combo - I'm sure if we decided against it, they could sell it on the lot quickly.

Here's basically what we're getting:

Sunroof
Blacktop Package
Captains Chairs
Towing Package

My wife absolutely despises the "cyclops" look of the adaptive cruise control and the kids both have iPads, so Technology Package and DVD's aren't needed.

The deal's not done yet - I'm starting to wonder if it's the best thing to do......

 

Funny, I had the same thing happen to me while at the dealer yesterday around 2pm.
Anyway, I finally got the build sheet to my liking and will be ordering my 2018 SRT as follows:
Octane Red
SRT Interior Appearance Pkg
Optional Split-spoke wheels
2nd row console
Cargo Group

My 2014 RT didn't have the Tech pkg and I didn't miss it, so didn't bother with it this time around either.
Too much entertainment is available on mobile devices these days so I skipped the rear DVD and the CD player this time around.
Looking at $66,100 without incentives.
Waiting to hear on a time frame as there is very little info coming from FCA on these right now.

 

I'm jealous you're getting the SRT! I would have pulled the trigger on one but this will be for my wife and I already have a 392 in my Scat Pack Charger. If the Durango was for me, the SRT would have been ordered. Even if the kids had to eat nothing but Ramen for a few years.....

Quoting my own post here. So - the dealer hit "order" on 7/17. I reached out on 7/25 to see if I could get the stitched dash added. Dealer checked the order status and said "nope - order is in D1 status with a VIN so we can't change the order. Ship date scheduled for 8/8 but don't hold your breath on that date".

So - I was bummed that I couldn't add the dash upgrade but stoked that it seemed production was coming soon. I tried out the chat feature on dodge.com to see if I could get updates from there. The chat rep took my VIN and said it's only on D status, meaning it's only at VIN assignment stage and hasn't been updated since 7/19. Someone is lying to me........

 

Just brought my new Durango home! 10 weeks from order date. $6000 in rebates for my lease!

 

10 Weeks? Uh oh. Our dealer told us 6-8 weeks. That means my wife has 8 weeks in her head. She's an impatient lady. I'm in trouble.

 

Yeah I got pretty impatient too. Especially since it was built about 3 weeks after the order date but sat in Michigan for the next 5 weeks before it started moving again. I think the salesman was ready to deliver it to me so I'd stop texting him for updates! Haha.

 

Update from Dodge.com on my 2018 SRT:
From what I can see, the components needed for the build are being allocated for the production line. Once the components have been put into sequence your build will begin. It should start within the next 10 days. At that time an estimated shipping date should be available. It would be estimated and only generated once the next phase has begun. Should any delays show up, the estimated shipdate wouldnt' change. So, it may or may not be accurate. It shouldn't hold too much weight.

 

Has anyone had their Durango SRT move out of D status? I ordered mine on 7/21 and was kinda ball parking delivery in the 10 week range, but at this rate that doesn't look likely...

I’d be skeptical of the dates. Especially since it’s so early on in the process. Ive gotten my hopes up only to have them crushed over and over.

I can see why you have the frustration and skepticism. However, for me, Dodge chat over the course of the last week has kept me informed of the status of my vehicle when I asked them. Plus, my dealership is showing my vehicle with the VIN as "IN TRANSIT" and I can view the Monroney sticker. That there gives me pretty good assurance that it's on it's way to the dealership. I'm sorry to see that you are running into issues with your order. I did see that another member with order issues similar to yours, you both ordered the stitched dash, maybe that is the part that has delayed your order. Would be nice to hear others chime in if they had delays, what options were ordered.

 

Spent 45 minutes on the phone with customer service today. Nobody knows “Sandra”. Spoke with another lady, Casey, who was very nice. It appears that the last 8 of my VIN match the last 8 of a VIN on a 1988 Dodge vehicle. W...t...f...?!?!?!? It’s causing mass confusion. Now another manager, Suzanne, is set to call me today. I’ve also reached out to my dealer to call someone who can do something.

About to explode...

Take note that VIN# can be recycled by the manufactures every 30 years based on this chart

So your VIN may very well match one that was produced 30 years ago as the "J" represents vehicle model years 1988 or 2018.

I love the red interiors...would be how I would order my R/T too.
Just not sure what color...Silver, Granite, Black or even White all go great with that interior!

 

We had black / granite / white exterior shades in mind and one cannot go wrong with either of these options. But having a white exterior along with blacktop package would have too many variations - black & white outside and black & red inside. We chose black exterior so that the red interior will be the only one highlighted.

Ordered yesterday - ‘18 R/T w/ tow, tech, roof rails and in B5 BLUE PEARL!!!!

 

Nice! I haven't seen the B5 color yet. Of course I've only seen two other 18's besides mine. One being a White Knuckle R/T I met up with for a sale, and the other was a black SRT I randomly passed going in the opposite direction.

Ordered a 2018 AWD R/T in B5 Blue Pearl with Technology/Towing/Black Top packages. I wanted the Red interior but that isn't possible with the Blue exterior. Now the long wait begins.
