Hmmm...looks like the picture posting and editing posts might be fixed? At least for now?

I'll post a picture of the Phase II Aftermarket NAV install parts if and when I get to that point. Already have the Aftermarket NAV, Adapter Interface, Bezels and Antenna Adapter. Includes Backup Camera.

I'll see how the OEM REC NAV install turns out then go from there.

Otherwise I could have a complete Aftermarket NAV unit package available for sale!

Downside is I have the Base Audio system with 4 Speakers with no Amp. Head Unit driving the speakers directly. If the REC can't handle it then it's Aftermarket Phase II with an Amp.

I have modest audio needs so i don't need Ear Bleeding Base and SPL! A powered Subwoofer can easily be added.

I know it seems like you're talking to yourself, but I'm watching. I'm sure others are too.
Thanks! I don't mind documenting this for other people that might find it useful. I know 2nd Gens are pretty old but someone else might buy one and have the same questions I did.

Another set back! I didn't originally see this when I received the NAV Dash Bracket. It was damaged in shipping. When it was in it's sealed plastic bag you couldn't see the damage. Filed a claim with the Ebay Seller. The yahoo didn't have any packing material or cushioning in the box. It's cracked/split on the left side and the lower left mounting tab is broken. Grrrr!

Looks like I might have a source for the NAV Dash Bracket thanks to a friend that works in the Dealer Network and looked up inventory on this discontinued part for me. Not at a standard Dealer!

Placed an order online for 4x of the discontinued brackets. Could always offer the remaining brackets to others that might want to go down the same path. I'll update once I receive them or not!

Best part is the Wholesale price!

And here's the future Phase II Audio/NAV upgrade. Parts are already in. Will decide if this gets installed in the bear future.

Consists of:

Aftermarket NAV Headunit with Bluetooth/DVD/Backup Camera
Kicker replacement 6.5" speakers for front/rear doors
Adapters/Bezels/Wiring courtesy of Crutchfield/Metra.

And yes I realize the head unit is budget! I Didn't want to spend the big $$$ on a Kenwood Excelon or Pioneer AVIC unit. Please remember I only paid $1500 total for the Durango! Not spending 50% or more on Audio/Video upgrades vs the purchase price!

Phase II upgrade will be less than $400 total including the NAV Dash Bracket and used Radio Surround Bezel ! Not bad in my opinion!

Might have an REC OEM NAV unit with Antenna/NAV DVD/NAV Dash bracket for sale in the future! You would only need to source the appropriate Radio Surround Bezel.

A power outlet doesn't fit in the space for the Traction Control button. Opening is too small. Would need to enlarge the opening to get the power outlet bezel to fit. I hate to tear up the expensive NAV Surround Bezel so I'll hold off on that. If I find another NAV Bezel cheap enough I might try the modification.

Until then I can use the Traction Control button as an Accessory switch for extra lighting? Or whatever.

Sorry about all the pictures! I'm excited to get this done!

If the REC is a bust then it's off to the Phase II install with the Boss NAV/Bluetooth install.

Either way...there will be a speaker upgrade at the minimum and most likely and Amplifier/Component Speaker install at the top end.

Thanks to everyone that contributed to this!

Looking into a low speed RER NAV unit also!

Might have to wait until the site fixes the picture problems but I'd like to see your install. I do have the Bezel for an aftermarket Double DIN from Crutchfield when I bought the NAV head unit for Phase II. It was included free.

This all works with the OEM Dash Bezel that comes with NAV units so no cutting or modifying. I think I got the bezel for less than half of what you could get an OEM new one for wholesale so I'm pretty happy with that.

I will take some pics and see if I can upload them here at some point.

I had to modify this bracket also to fit the double DIN radio, the one my truck had would not fit right, so all I did really was cut the back part, so I could spread the bracket open wider. Cant see it, so theres no way to tell from the outside.

I'll be attempting the REC install this upcoming weekend. I'll let you know about the bracket fit in the dash.

Crutchfield supplied all the brackets and bezels for the Boss double DIN install and I'll check that out also.

The REC is a pretty big unit. I haven't compared the size of the Boss head unit to the REC but will do that in the next few days.

According to the FSM there's no amplifier for the 4 speaker audio system. So currently the speakers are being driven by the head unit. We'll see if the REC has the "Balls" to drive the current speakers.

If not...then the Phase II Boss Audio head unit has 80w x 4 which might do. The Kicker 6.5" speakers I bought might be more efficient than the OEM so that's an option. The Kickers will be getting installed regardless of what head unit gets installed.

I've got a couple of 4 channel Blaupunkt amplifiers sitting around new so amplification is not a problem. Also if I go with the Phase II Boss install it has pre-amp outputs so perfect for an amp.

I have 4 extra NAV Dash Brackets available for a decent price. These are discontinued and no longer in the dealer network, Ebay sellers are gouging buyers at $50 or more + shipping!

Part Number 55056269AD - BRACKET NAVIGATION DISPLAY.

I'll sell them for a reasonable price if anyone needs one. Contact me for more info. As always, I only charge actual shipping so no markup there.
