No more 2015 R/T orders?

A local dealer is telling me factory orders for the '15 R/T are officially closed for the year. Doesn't sound right with the '16 still 6 months away (based on when the '15 shipped last year).

Is this guy just blowing smoke up my tailpipe hoping I'll buy off the lot? (I won't.)

When I ordered my citadel last weekend, my dealer said orders were open till the 31st. Typically they shut down now, but the dealers put in large orders to carry them through the summer until the order banks open for the 2016s. I can ask my guy if you are close to NY

Just called the dealer right up the street from me and the manager said they would have no problem ordering one. I told him a friend was told by another dealer that the deadline was tomorrow. He said no. I asked when the deadline was and he said they don't know but nothing has been announced yet.

That's what the manager told me pretty much. He said until they get ready to start switching over to building 16's they will take orders. Most likely these guys all just throw out a close date to get you to order now so they can get the sale. They are SALESMEN

Wow 15's are done? Crazy. I'm not sure if I'm glad I got my order in or whether I should have just waited for a 16.

Sucks to lose the value being a model year older after only a week. Are we sure this isn't just this allocation and order period is temporarily closed on Durangos and will open next month?

Doctorsti, 2016's won't be in showrooms until late December, early January, so I don't think you screwed yourself by a week.

c6vette05, you're getting yours fast! Are you close to Detroit or something? Seems like maybe there's minimal shipping time with yours.

RedHotFuzz, I'm am decidedly unsure when 2015 orders shut down, but I'd probably do it soon, just to be safe. Otherwise, I think you're looking at order in November/December. No pressure of course, and it sounds like you may want to wait for the 2016 anyway. Me, I just couldn't wait any longer.

Maybe a gadget, but most of the company resources are going into the Minivan launch.
For what will surely be a price increase, I would not be waiting.
Heck, there will always be updates, new models, ect. If you need a new vehicle you go with the best fit you can at the point in time.
If there were new engines, remake to the interior, ect, that might be worth waiting for as in the '14 update from the '13 model year.
But otherwise, all that is going to happen is the price will go up, that's a given with the huge increase in health care costs coming all our way.

Just my view.

I'm sorry but I just don't get why a dealer would stop taking orders for a certain model of vehicle and claim that Dodge won't let them when CLEARLY other dealers are still putting in orders with no issues. I don't believe Dodge would tell dealer A that orders can no longer be entered but yet tell Dealer B that they are still ok to take them. It's got to be the dealers making this crap up, right?

The weird thing is that it's not just a couple of dealers...we've had reports here of, what?, four or five so far? Something weird is going on here and it's bugging the crap out of me to not be able to understand it.

Well, I hope you're able to get one. Not cool if dealers are playing games.

OK guys to settle this issue I went to my dealer yesterday. Sat at the computer with him and he built one. At the end of the build it clearly says RESTRICTED. This means you technically can't place an order. That being said he said its been like this for a week or so. He said they can call their rep and ask to push it thru and get it built. So far he hasn't had any orders turned away. So the final verdict is dealers are saying no more orders because TECHNICALLY they're restricted right now but the dealer can most likely push an order thru if they try

Very few R/Ts in my area, and most have the captains chairs in the rear which are a no-go for me.

Also, they love to add the rear entertainment system to those dealer builds. I'm not paying two grand for that when my kids already have iPads. Nor do I want to lose center console storage space for an old-timey disc player.

According to published order bank info from leasing company websites, MY15 Durango order banks closed May 29th. My friend at a local dealership confirmed this as well. Painted and Polished wheels also went restricted about two months ago - hence why we are seeing a flood of blacktop configurations. For those who want to order one - bad news is that the MY16 Durango order banks don't open till October 26th with first production starting November 30th. Must be a production line equipment change out - or maybe new paint robots or something.

Hi,

New to the forum (first post) and looking to purchase an new Durango RT or Citadel. We have a specific configuration we want and are willing to wait to find it (V8, towing, technology, center storage console, no dvd screens)

We just started the search this weekend and our initial feedback suggests that we may have to special order if we want our exact configuration.

We started the process through TrueCar/USAA and really like the price quotes we got, but nobody has exactly what we want. I sent an email to all the dealers that responded asking about ordering. My local dealer said in an email that 2015 model orders end the first week of July and that 2016 orders will start mid August. This information is from an email I just received so it may not be correct (I'm always surprised by how little some folks at car dealers know about the products they sell...) The dealer is close and I hope to head over tonight to get verification. I'll let everyone know how it goes.

Thanks to everyone on this forum for the good information here. We are pretty much set on the Durango and looking forward to being a part of the community.

Dave

The leasing websites show the same 5/29 date for Jeep Grand Cherokees. I don't *think* those are going away anytime soon.

Still not sure if/when 2015 orders close, but another issue is monthly allocation. I believe once they hit those, orders don't open again until early in the next month.

DD and JGC are built on the same line - hence the parallel order bank dates. Must be a major line retool. Dodge is making too much money on the DD - not EOL.

Really about 3 months. MY15 production would probably go through late July / early August. MY16 production starts November, so down for Sept, Oct and some of November. 10-12 weeks to retool / replace major portion of the line makes sense. As far as the business decision - don't think they have a choice - as I recall an insider on this or another forum saying portions of the line are old.
