I went to Midas and paid about $700 for new pads, rotors, brake flush, and labor. I paid way too much for the convenience and warranty, which they tried not to honor when I took the D back for them to fix after my brakes locked up and caught on fire.
Basically, I paid way too much for a job that I could have done myself for much less money, if I only had the time. Now, my brakes are locking up again and smoking and I'm not taking my vehicle back to Midas just so they can screw it up some more!
UPDATE
Just got off the phone with one of the local managers. He said they filed an insurance claim today and I'll be hearing from them, probably on Monday, so they can assess liability.
I'm dropping my D off at the dealership on Sunday night so they can take a look at it on Monday morning and we'll take it from there. This is probably the result of the complaint I filed with Midas about the poor quality of workmanship in the local shop where my brakes were serviced.
I know Midas doesn't consider this kind of work to be up to their standards, so it's a local problem, which is why they now have their insurance adjusters involved. After taking my D to their shop twice, only to have the same problem with the brakes locking up, there's obviously something wrong with the way they're running that place.
My brakes never had any problems in the 1 1/2 years I've owned my Durango - not until I took it to Midas.
Here's to hoping the dealership can fix it, and Midas will do the right thing and pay for their mistake.
CHEERS,
Chris
