There was a Hennessey HPE1000 that got to 90k and didn't meet reserve and a regular old Hellcat with 24k miles that only got bid up to 65k.

'21 owners are taking a bath on these, if they bought them as "one year only" specials with intent to sell down the line.

I think the majority of us who bought the '21 did it for our love of the vehicle. At least the owners on this forum.
However, as is usually the case, timing is everything.
I did very well trading mine in last year. It wasn't planned but I'm glad I got out when I did.

I bought my '21 to enjoy. I expect it to be my last car. I'm 76 and I don't trade cars very often. My other daily driver is an '07 Ram 3500 DRW and it handles all of my towing and hauling needs. I was hoping the Hellcat would hold its value a little better so my wife could make a little off of it when I croak but it didn't happen. Mine is a one-of-one being F8 with no stripes and the lightweight package so there's that.

I'm with the others. I bought it because I wanted it and still enjoy driving it every day. Market is really tough right now regardless, but with nearly 1,000 new 2023/2024 Durango Hellcats showing on dealer lots it will be a tough sell for us 2021 owners.

I bought my 2021 Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat because it sounded like a cool vehicle to own. The idea that they were to be made in limited numbers was intriguing and also the possibility of becoming a collectible was cool too. But those were not really the motivating factors for buying my Hellcat, speed and performance were, and it has not disappointed on either of those things. Like others, I am 66 years old and this vehicle keeps me young. Every time I push the start button, the sound brings a smile to my face. It is just a blast to own and drive, and is meant to be driven, not stored away in a shed hoping someday it will double, or triple in value. I bought my DDHC for $300 under MSRP, there is no way in hell I would have ever paid the premium over sticker some dealers asked, and their customers paid. I really feel sorry for the 2023 and 2024 DDHC owners that now have to pay 10K+ for the exact same vehicle, and are not being afforded the choice of options like we were. I got my DDHC with a rear DVD player and an engine block heater, amongst other options, good luck finding those options being listed anymore. And because of those option choices I made, I now own a one of one DDHC. Don’t get me started on having to pay the top premium trim just to get the upgrade Harmon Kardon strereo. We also got actual spare tires with our vehicles too. In the end, it is still a Stellantis FCA Chrysler product, of course it’s going to lose it’s value, anyone that thought otherwise has not owned many Chrysler products in their lifetime.

I'm surprised the Hennessey one did not sell, they charge $35K for that package (that's what it was when I called about getting my 23 done). Then again look at the economy, gas & food prices not to mention all the "crap" going on in the world today.... It's a very volatile time, we bought the 23 thinking it was the "last one" as I am sure many of the 21 owners did also. Don't get me wrong I love the car but would have waited for the 24 if in fact we had known it was going to be the last one. Fool me once, but never again Dodge. I am a loyal Dodge owner and have had many of their vehicles (7) but this last stunt will make me consider other brands for my next purchase.

Agreed on most points above, but I sometimes too think about how it would have been cool to get the last one in 2024.
But then that brings me back to your point about the world and current market, I would NEVER get the trade-in value I did in 2024 as I did early last year for my '20 WBSP Charger. Financially the move just makes more sense back then.

Not to mention the price has gone up even more for '24, and the ADM's are going to come back with a vengeance for the "last call" special edition model. I doubt I'd be able to convince my dealer to sell me one at invoice again.

Then again the market seems to have dried up for these, so they may be forced to start discounting them heavily enough to bring the price down to an equivalent level. Time will tell. I'm just happy to have one now.

With used low mileage '21s in the 80K range the market just might not be there for full price '24s.

True.

You absolutely do not have the same transmission as the hellcat.

And I don't think anyone here thinks the DDHC is a collectors car. It's still a massed produced vehicle, just the coolest trim you can get.

It IS a special car, and that's why I bought it. It does everything I need a daily to do, including putting a smile on my face every time I hear the supercharger whine.

Is it over the top and ridiculous, yes, but if I can have it, why wouldn't I want it?

You can't sit there and bash on it and claim your TowNGo is in the same league of performance.

And if I ever see a soccer mom driving one of these, then they clearly have the best taste in Durango trim. Not sure why you're hating on moms either, they're the reason you are around to troll on the Internet in the first place.

I feel compelled to comment on this. I too believe the SRT tranny is completely different from that in the R/T TNG. We are blessed to have recently traded a 23 TNG for a 23 SRT 392, and one of the first things I noticed when driving the SRT was the tranny.

The tranny in our SRT DD performs just like the trannys we had in our Scat Packs - super sensitive to input, kicks down immediately when you floor it, and intuitively holds gears longer when driving in a sporty manner, even in the default drive mode. I really missed that performance when we sold our Scat Packs, and I'm so thankful to have it back now with the SRT DD.

When we had the TNG, even in sport mode, it just wouldn't provide the input response like we enjoyed in our Scat Packs. If I noticed this drastic of a difference in the SRT 392 DD, I can only imagine what the tranny must be like in HC DDs.

Re all the comments on the performance DDs looking like the basic ones that soccer moms drive, personally I freaking LOVE that I can kind of hide or be the gray man in traffic if I choose to not to get on the throttle.

Sure, it's nice to have a visual show stopper if that's your thing -hell, I'd love a C8 or Lambo - but I too bought ours to drive and enjoy, with the least amount of drama possible in traffic and when out and about.
