Memory seats and easy exit stopped working ?

70451 Views 51 Replies 45 Participants Last post by  apeas2
All of a sudden, both stopped working. I can adjust the seat and then save it, and it shows it's been saved. However, after moving the seat and then hitting the #1 or #2 button, it does nothing. Also, at the same time, the easy exit stopped working.

Does anyone have this issue and or know how to fix it?

thx

Just lost the easy exit feature myself on the '14 Limited. The above-referenced troubleshooting procedures helped.
This same thing just happened to my 2016 Durango and this reset both memory seats and the easy exit feature.
Just wanted to add my experience.
Found this post through google search, should have known I’d find the answer here and should have come to the forum in the first place. Anyway, here was my issue and fix:

2015 Durango Limited
Easy exit and memory functions both quit working, which sucks when I’m 6’4” and my wife’s 5’3” and we both drive this vehicle on the regular. Followed the advice here by:
-Started vehicle, shut off easy exit feature, rolled down window, exited vehicle, and closed the door.
-Reached into vehicle through open drivers window and ran seat full forward, full back, full up, full down, tilt full forward, tilt full back, set tilt back to middle position.
-Entered vehicle and turned “Easy Exit” back on.
-Shut off vehicle, then turned back on.
-Set memory profiles for both 1(my wife) and 2(me).

Everything works like a charm now including easy exit. Hope this helps anyone that Has the same issues.

I did the 'shut off easy exit feature' 'cycle seat forward and backward' 'turneasy exit feature back on' This DOES work, but make sure seat goes all the way forward. My knees jammed the first few times and I thought it was far enough but it was NOT. Maybe advice to being outside truck is because of this, I just scooted up on the back of the seat. Not sure if you need to turn feature on and off, FULLY cycling seat may be enough. I think I did a software update which may have been route of problem
It does work!!! Just did in my 17 Durango and it did fix the problem!!!
While outside of the truck, cycle your seat from extreme forward to extreme rear. Doesn't seem to matter which direction you start in. If I recall, some advised turning the feature off, cycle the seat(s), then turn the feature back on - but I've never needed to do that. I think that dealer updates to software confuse the memory settings.
2019 R/T fixed! This was a QUICK & EASY FIX

Mine is messing up all of a sudden too. My easy exit won't work and now ai have to hit a memory seat for it to move. It used to always automatically go to memory 1 when I turned the car on.
My 2015 Dodge Durango suffered the same issue. Suggested fix by "SwampFox" worked.

1. Disable "Easy Exit"
2. Adjust seat all the way forward, then all the way backward.
3. Enable "Easy Exit"

This resolves Memory Profile Recall and Easy Exit issue.
How do you enable and disable easy exit in 2012 rt?

I just performed the full forward/full back on the 17 Durango RT with the "easy exit" setting off. Turned the "easy exit" back on and it worked! Unfortunately I just replaced the door memory switch at the same time so I am unsure which activity was the final fix. That part is available from Judco MFG in California. Good luck all and thank you for the forum advice!

Welcome and nice looking DD.
Thank you, this was before I blacked out the taillights and deleted the rear resonator. Now my truck is what I wanted
This just happened to me. Here is how I fixed it.

2017 Durango Memory Function Reset
If "Memory" Functions stop working do the following.

Thanks for the procedure. I have a 2015 Limited and this procedure worked like a champ. Thanks again!
This just happened to me. Here is how I fixed it.

2017 Durango Memory Function Reset
If "Memory" Functions stop working do the following.
1. Enter car with key and press "Start/Stop" button without pressing the brake pedal to put car in accessory mode. NOTE: It is not necessary to disable the "Easy Exit Feature"
2. Roll down driver's side window.
3. Exit car: NOTE: Leave key fob inside car.
4. Close driver's side door.
5. From outside the car you will be able to reach all of the "Memory" function controls:
a. Driver's Seat Controls
b. Driver's Seat Back Control
c. Steering Wheel Position Switch
d. Power Mirrors, Left and Right
6. Reach into the car and find the Driver's Seat Controls. Using the controls:
a. Move seat all the way forward, then all the way back till it stops at both ends.
b. Move seat all the way up, then all the way down till it stops at both ends.
c. Tilt seat all the way up, then all the way down till it stops at both ends.
7. Reach into the car and find the Driver's Seat Back Control. Using the control:
a. Tilt seat all the way forward, then all the way back till it stops at both ends, then tilt it back toward the middle (normal) position.
8. Reach into the car and find the Steering Wheel Control. Using the control:
a. Move the Steering Wheel all the way in, then all the way out till it stops at both ends.
b. Move the Steering Wheel all the way up, then all the way down till it stops at both ends.
9. Reach into the car and find the Power Mirror Controls. Using the controls, do the following for both the left and right mirror:
a. Move the Power Mirror all the way up, then all the way down till it stops at both ends.
b. Move the Power Mirror all the way left, then all the way right till it stops at both ends.
10. Open the Driver's door and get back into the car. Reset the Driver 1 and Driver 2 Memory settings according to the instructions in the Owner's Manual.
11. Press brake pedal and press Stop/Start button Start the engine.
12. Press Stop/Start button Stop the engine.
Your "Memory Functions" should work as normal again.

This definitely works on a 2017 Durango RT
Supposedly Dodge replaced the driver side seat and door module, the first time this happened. Chances are...they just did this reset. Good thing it was, still is under warranty.
Either way. It works. (y)

This worked for my 2020! Thanks so much!!

Well, glad some had luck with fixing theirs😀. My wife’s 2018 RT. I have tried everyone’s posted fix listed here including Spencers longer version. My end result is the seat will not move…. back or down when shutting the engine down to get out, however the steering wheel does go up. Memory seat does work. Any ideas guys? What would your next step be.

Hi keegantimber,
We certainly understand why this may be concerning. We kindly recommend having your dealer inspect this concern for you as they are in the best position to assist. If you do work with your dealer, we would be more than happy to provide you with additional support via private messages.

Glad to see after all these years dodge has fixed whatever is causing this issue (insert sarcasm and eye roll here). But in all seriousness just had this happen tonight in my 2021 GT Plus. After reading this post I tried the simplest method I read first. Turned to accessory and while standing outside (to ensure there was enough room for the seat to move freely) I moved the seat all the forward and then all the way back. Got it and started it. Hit the memory 1 button and my seat returned to previous saved settings. Shut off the car and the seat went all the way back and steering wheel all the way up. Working perfectly again.

I have noticed a few times when getting in the seat has not gone back to the memory setting. This always seems to happen when my phone is in my back pocket. I am moving in the seat to get my phone and notice the seat didn’t move. I’m guessing it has some type of sensor if it feels resistance it doesn’t move. I am wondering if this causes it to completely stop too? Just a thought…but thanks for the easy fix.
