Memory seats and easy exit stopped working ?

71164 Views 51 Replies 45 Participants Last post by  apeas2
All of a sudden, both stopped working. I can adjust the seat and then save it, and it shows it's been saved. However, after moving the seat and then hitting the #1 or #2 button, it does nothing. Also, at the same time, the easy exit stopped working.

Does anyone have this issue and or know how to fix it?

thx

Have you looked at the settings to make sure the easy exit feature is enabled?

And maybe try clearing the seat memory and retrying.

Hope you find a solution. Post here if you do, as others will probably experience it at some point.
While outside of the truck, cycle your seat from extreme forward to extreme rear. Doesn't seem to matter which direction you start in. If I recall, some advised turning the feature off, cycle the seat(s), then turn the feature back on - but I've never needed to do that. I think that dealer updates to software confuse the memory settings.

We had this issue in my wife's '14 Durango. Memory seat stopped working, wouldn't take new settings, etc.

Took two trips to the dealer and a call to Chrysler Tech for them to solve the problem. Turned out to be a door module in the passenger side front door. They also replaced the memory module in the driver's door for good measure.

If I recall, there were some codes thrown that helped, somewhat, for them to diagnose.

Just points up the fact that everything in this vehicle is tied together in ways we wouldn't expect...

Just lost the easy exit feature myself on the '14 Limited. The above-referenced troubleshooting procedures helped.

I did the 'shut off easy exit feature' 'cycle seat forward and backward' 'turneasy exit feature back on' This DOES work, but make sure seat goes all the way forward. My knees jammed the first few times and I thought it was far enough but it was NOT. Maybe advice to being outside truck is because of this, I just scooted up on the back of the seat. Not sure if you need to turn feature on and off, FULLY cycling seat may be enough. I think I did a software update which may have been route of problem

This just happened to me. Here is how I fixed it.

2017 Durango Memory Function Reset
If "Memory" Functions stop working do the following.
1. Enter car with key and press "Start/Stop" button without pressing the brake pedal to put car in accessory mode. NOTE: It is not necessary to disable the "Easy Exit Feature"
2. Roll down driver's side window.
3. Exit car: NOTE: Leave key fob inside car.
4. Close driver's side door.
5. From outside the car you will be able to reach all of the "Memory" function controls:
a. Driver's Seat Controls
b. Driver's Seat Back Control
c. Steering Wheel Position Switch
d. Power Mirrors, Left and Right
6. Reach into the car and find the Driver's Seat Controls. Using the controls:
a. Move seat all the way forward, then all the way back till it stops at both ends.
b. Move seat all the way up, then all the way down till it stops at both ends.
c. Tilt seat all the way up, then all the way down till it stops at both ends.
7. Reach into the car and find the Driver's Seat Back Control. Using the control:
a. Tilt seat all the way forward, then all the way back till it stops at both ends, then tilt it back toward the middle (normal) position.
8. Reach into the car and find the Steering Wheel Control. Using the control:
a. Move the Steering Wheel all the way in, then all the way out till it stops at both ends.
b. Move the Steering Wheel all the way up, then all the way down till it stops at both ends.
9. Reach into the car and find the Power Mirror Controls. Using the controls, do the following for both the left and right mirror:
a. Move the Power Mirror all the way up, then all the way down till it stops at both ends.
b. Move the Power Mirror all the way left, then all the way right till it stops at both ends.
10. Open the Driver's door and get back into the car. Reset the Driver 1 and Driver 2 Memory settings according to the instructions in the Owner's Manual.
11. Press brake pedal and press Stop/Start button Start the engine.
12. Press Stop/Start button Stop the engine.
Your "Memory Functions" should work as normal again.

This just happened to me as well. Memory seats say they are set but buttons won't move them back.

I will try these things suggested this weekend.

This is why forums are great!
I have said it before and I will say it again, it sure can be fun at times driving out laptop computers ;)
Excellent info gang.. this is why we're here..
Mine just lost it too. Buttons don?t do anything when pressed. Occasionally I?ll get a message that says position 1 learned or whatever, but that?s it. Will try a reset again. Starting to get a bunch of gremlins in this 2 year old, 14500 mile turd.
Make sure seat is lowered all the way

At first this didn't work for me. But I tried again and when moving the seat all the way back, I also lowered it as much as it would go, which allowed the seat to go back even further. I finished the steps outlined above and the easy exit feature works again.

Hope this helps someone.

My memory seats stoped working on my 2017 Ram 2500 Laramie just after its first service. The dealer had to do a flash for a recall and when I got it home I realized the easy exit and memory had stopped working.
Read this forum and saw the post to move seat all the way forward then back. Thought it was a joke but gave it a try. It worked great, now everything works. Saved me another visit to the dealer.

Thank you, i just ran into this problem last weekend when I dropped something between the seat and the console. To retrieve the item i ran the seat to the front then the rear. That is when i noticed that the easy exit and the seat settings would not work. To correct, i ran the seat all the way to the front and then to the rear after that i cycled the car issue resolved

To the guy who describes his D as a turd......you must have gotten a bad one, my 16 has been pure bliss......Maybe you got a used one from someone who didn't take care of it.
Can definitely confirm that moving the seat all the way forward and then back works like a charm. Worked on the 1st try. Thanks all for the help

I hit a deer almost 2 months ago, and I just received my car yesterday from the collision shop. The memory profile didn't work, and neither did the easy exit. I did exactly what the advice above mentioned, and it worked like a charm!! Thank you for the information Spencer2017!!!
THE INSTRUCTIONS FROM LEARMENT DID WORK!

As an FYI: I have a 2017 Dodge Durango GT. Here's specifically what I did:

- I left my vehicle running and turned the Easy Exit Feature off
- I got out of my vehicle
- I moved the seat completely forward until it could not move forward anymore
- Then, I moved the seat completely backward until it could not move backward anymore
- I got back into the vehicle while the seat was all the way to the back and turned the Easy Exit Feature back on
- I adjusted my seat to the position where I wanted it to be
- Then I turned my vehicle off. The Easy Exit Feature worked again all thanks to this Forum!!!!

Excellent write-up and still effective over a year after you posted.

My wife had to valet park her '17 Durango R/T earlier today and the attendant hit a variety of buttons trying to turn off the AC. (For some inexplicable reason their policy is to turn off the AC for all of the vehicles they park.) When she got her vehicle back she could barely reach the pedals. The easy access feature as well as the Memory for everything was gone.

Your instructions worked flawlessly and all is well again.
Just had to do this in mine with just over 3k miles. It’s similar to the auto up/down windows on my wife’s GTI. It would lose that function and I would have to roll it all the up then down to reset. I wouldn’t have thought about doing that for the seats so thank you all for the info!
My 2015 Dodge Durango suffered the same issue. Suggested fix by "SwampFox" worked.

1. Disable "Easy Exit"
2. Adjust seat all the way forward, then all the way backward.
3. Enable "Easy Exit"

This resolves Memory Profile Recall and Easy Exit issue.
