eco mode off = MDS disabled.

 

In RT yes, in SRT no.

 

I drive a 2022 DD SRT 392. I can confirm that MDS will still kick on with the transmission set to "street" and eco mode set to off.

Is there any way to restrict MDS to only engage while eco mode is active like how the R/T's are?

I like driving casually in street mode but cant stand MDS constantly turning on and off while driving around town. MDS will probably engage and disengage 60 to 70 times over 45 minutes of city driving. It drives me crazy.

Is this something that can be acheived with a tazer?

Obviously switching to sport mode will prevent MDS from activating, but then i get to deal with the transmission staying in too low of a gear for too long and not upshifting while driving casually.

 

My Wife cannot tell when MDS is on or off. I can but it’s not that annoying because I am just easy cruising. You’re right about sport mode holding gears longer than it need to be based on throttle input. Supposedly it’s an adaptive transmission so maybe it will learn how you like to drive?

That honestly amazes me. I know the instant it kicks on. The engine sounds different and has a very noticable vibration from firing out of balance.

 

That is what the ECO OFF button is for. If you don't want to push it each time you start the car then you need to disable it with AlfaOBD.

MDS still activates with Eco mode off on the SRT. MDS funtions different in the SRT models as opposed to the regular R/T.

I never use Eco mode, which is why i want MDS to be restricted to only being able to activate when Eco mode is also active.

The vehicle defaults to auto when started, just like every other durango. I don't have to disable eco mode everytime i drive it, because the vehicle remembers whether or not i had it off the last time i drove it. If i shut the vehicle off with Eco mode off, eco mode will still be off when i start it again.

If the transmission is in street mode, then MDS is active. Doesnt matter if eco mode is off and every other setting is set to track mode - If the transmission is in street mode then MDS is on.

 

I was under the impression that ECO mode only affected the transmission, by shifting to higher gears quicker for increased economy. I have ECO off on my R/T and can still hear it kick into four cylinder mode under low load conditions.
