I recently bought a 99 durango. I got raped by the dealership and it needs a lot more work than i figured it did, so I'll be attempting most of it myself, doing as much research as I can along the way.
I've seen alot of threads here about the horrors of heater core replacement, but I'm looking for a real step by step guide that will tell me where the bolts and screws are, how many of them I should have to remove, what clips are where and how they are fastened, and what wiring that may need to be removed.
also any tips at all that will make the job go faster or help me avoid screwing up would be appreciated.
I consider myself fairly mechanically inclined, I have a pretty good collection of tools, but I have no experience working in an auto shop or body shop so consider me one step above a complete novice.
(Edit: clarification, I know the heater core is leaking because there is steam blowing through the vents no matter if the heat is turned on or off, it reaks of antifreeze in the cab and under the hood, but the leaking intake manifold gasket has already been fixed by a trusted mechanic. I want to tackle the heater core by myself because I'm confident I can do it myself and I can't really afford to pay someone at this point. Only reason I didn't do the intake manifold gasket was that there was a broken bolt and I had no way of removing it.)
