This is our two-year old Durango (2015 Limited AWD 3.6L with factory tow package) pulling our two-year old 2015 Jay Feather X23B. We bought the Durango in December of 2016 and the trailer in May of 2017. We had our first outing recently and everything performed admirably.

Well, not actually pulling when the photo was made...

New Trailer Day. A 28' Fun Finder that's essentially the exact same trailer that was included in the review of the Shadow Cruiser/Durango combo that everyone has probably seen by now (same manufacturer, Cruiser RV, different model lines).

And yes, since you're all thinking it, we found the fun. All of it. There is no fun left for anyone else.

Definitely won the "Lots of Comments From Bemused and/or Horrified Onlookers" award. Towed three times now (once home from the dealer, then we just did our first trip this weekend for Memorial Day) and have had three people query us on whether or not we had lost our G-D minds. Well, not in those words exactly, but you get my drift. And this doesn't even count the comment overheard in the dealer's garage when they were installing the hitch, when one worker said to the other in a tone that can only be described as "incredulity": ".......it's a DURANGO!!"

I get the same looks with my Durango and Passport 2810BH. I just towed it from Montana to Alaska with no problems whatsoever...2700 miles :).

LOL!
Yes, I know what you're talking about...too many people assume you need a large pickup to pull anything these days with many thinking you need at least a 2500.
I use to get mostly Toyota owners come up to me at the boat ramp when I was retrieving my 26' boat from the water with my 2001 D.
They were impressed a SUV that small could pull that size boat.
I would tell them the D was a full frame truck with a V8 and 3.92 rear end. But they had no clue what that meant they just figured their V6 Toyota must be able to pull the same as it was the same size as the D. I would just agree with them.

I don't just mean looks, I mean I had people COMMENTING at fuel and food stops. Tons of looks, too. Or maybe with the latter I was just projecting.

It was partially your sharing of your experience(s) with the Passport that helped me pull the trigger on a trailer this size. We even considered the 2810BH (among others) but went with the Cruiser instead, just worked better for our needs. After a frankly terrifying drive home with it right after my pic was taken I thought we'd made a terrible mistake but I chalked it up to inexperience with towing and a very stiff crosswind on that day. After loading up most of our stuff and our people/pets, running it across a CAT scale to figure out what where we stood on the weight distribution, a little repacking, and a little experience driving it in "let's go camping" mode, I'm far more confident and more content with our choice. You definitely notice when a semi is passing, or when there are wind gusts, but it's controllable and the sway isn't so significant that the brake controller needs to be used in "manual mode" to rein things in. Most of the time it's a one-hand-on-the-wheel experience, unlike the drive home which was white-knuckle stuff (though I'd never towed before that moment so I didn't have a basis of comparison). Also happy to see the trans temp stayed pretty much locked at 195F, which is consistent with what we see when driving WITHOUT the trailer. The fuel mileage, however, is atrocious.... Got an indicated 7.8mpg on a long 65mph run with the trans in auto, 8.8 on the same stretch the other direction (pretty flat both ways, it's Indiana after all) with manual shifting, though a simple change in wind direction could have been the difference there, too. Managed 10mpg in the 45-55mph range in some rolling hills.

what is the length and weight of that trailer? I am trailer shopping this week and need something roomy but want the d to handle it well
If you're talking to me... ours is 28ft plus tongue and bumper and just over 5900lbs dry. Not clear to me if that includes the LP bottles but of course it doesn't include the WD hitch. I personally wouldn't recommend any travel trailer that is much heavier or longer, you just won't be able to make the numbers work.
