Key fob programming issues

Hello, maybe someone can point me in the right direction. Yesterday, I programmed a new fob to my 2018 GT DD, it a went well, but the newly programmed fob only locks, unlocks the doors and back gate, no proximity detection whatsoever. I kinda know its not the RF Hub because I have another fob that does the opposite, has the passive entry and starts the vehicle but it doesn't lock, unlock the doors. Has anyone had this issue before? Could it be that the new keyfob is a generic one not an OEM?

How did you program it? I'm dealing with a similar issue. I got an extra fob a few years back from an online place, but when a mobile locksmith tried to program it, it would lock/unlock the doors, but the proximity detection didn't work. He said it looks like it had been programmed before. The online place sent me another, and I went to a Batteries Plus place, same results.

I've since learned you need the PIN from the RF Hub - that's usually something you have to get from a dealer, who may or may not want to give that to you, and may or may not charge you for it. I don't know that either place I tried pulled and used the PIN.

AlfaOBD does have the ability to read the PIN - I actually did that today (day off and was looking for stuff to do...) I got the PIN and tried to program one of the extra fobs but got an error saying it had already been programmed. I ordered a new one from a different online place today and will try to program it when it arrives.

I had had that key for a while now, so yesterday I went to the dealership to get the PIN and used Alfaobd to program it. I've searched the internet for information that'd help me figure out but nothing concrete came out. Now, my theory is that it needs to be am OEM fobik to work. I just ordered one, so will update this post when I get it. Also, I've been trying to find info on what happens if I erase all programmed keys? Can I reprogram them? Alfaobd states that they can only be used after unlocking them, but, how do you unlock them?

I looked at various places to get a new fob. Amazon had several listed; reading the reviews they seemed pretty hit or miss - some people said they worked great, some said they couldn't get them to program correctly. I ended up buying from a 'dedicated' fob place online. Should be here in 2-3 days, and I'll see how it works. I'll be sure to report back.

I think if you erase all the programmed keys, they are removed from the RFH memory, not that the fob programming is erased. I don't think you could use the fob again - it looks like once it gets programmed to a vehicle, it is done. I don't know how to unlock a fob.

Just to follow up on this. I ordered a fob from CarandTruckRemotes and it arrived today. It was $35 with shipping/tax. I had used AlfaOBD to pull the PIN from the RFH earlier and programmed the fob using the PIN and AlfaOBD. It works as advertised! I now have three fully functioning fobs, plus two that will lock/unlock the doors and start the car if I use them to push the Start button.

I used the 'Program Ignition FOBIKs'. When you select it, the window has info and instructions. For this selection, it says, 'Not for the RAM models! Select this procedure for all other models (JC, JF, JT, LA, LD, LX, RU, WD, WK, ZD.' The Baseline and Highline options are only for Ram trucks. All my FOBs, OEM and extras, have the Continental logo on the circuit board.
