Just ordered my Durango Hellcat

I called two local Dodge dealerships today, one who wouldn't sell a Hellcat for under $10k ADM, and the other selling at MSRP. Guess which one I ordered from?

I was given a delivery lead time of about 10 weeks, but we'll see if that'll hold.

I just attempted to e-mail Tim Kuniskis (found an e-mail address that others have used) to see if he can find out why my vehicle, ordered on November 7th, started production on February 22nd, has been stuck in status "I"--"Final Inspection" for 13 days, while people who ordered their vehicles at the end of December, are taking delivery now . . . there are also others who ordered on or even before I did, where the vehicles haven't even started getting built . . . WTH?!?!? Whatever happened to "First In--First Out"?

Hopefully, he will respond and provide some details . . .

I tried asking Tim if our orders are good for those of us who ordered with dealers that didn't have an allocation. They haven't started to be built yet, so if our orders are no good, and are going to be cancelled, I wish they would cancel them, or tell us now, so we can snag a dealer order before they are all gone. I asked on Thursday (6 days ago) and never got a response.

I intentionally talked to multiple dealers who had an allocation and they were all very clear that they were going to add substantial Markups so I went to a smaller dealer quite Far from where I live and ordered one where they did not have an allocation. They agreed to sell it to me at MSRP. It is scheduled to be built next week and already has a Vin number.

I think you got lucky, I know Dodge added some additional allocations at the end of January and you must have nabbed one.

I'd say that unless you put some egregiously high deposit on the one you ordered (which you should get back anyway considering your order was cancelled), you shop around and find a dealer with an open allocation.

As others have said, Koons in Virginia still has some allocations left at MSRP. I ordered mine from them and, other than a minor hiccup, the process has been smooth.
This is pretty much the only answer, I'm guessing by now Dodge has assigned all VON's their VIN's that will be built. If they haven't canceled the order yet, I'm sure it'll be coming down the line. You may want to hurry though as I'm sure by now if a dealership hasn't had a customer place an order for one that they've performed a dealer order with who knows what color and options.

My dealer that I've purchased 2 DDSRT's from has only ordered/sold 2 Charger/Challenger Hellcats ever since they came out. Very tiny dealership but great to work with. Had no allocations for a Durango Hellcat. We put an oder together, deposit, sold vehicle, address taken, email taken. Priorty 1. Gave me the VON on the spot, a few weeks later received the VIN and yesterday recieved the Build Sheet. Good to go! Can't wait!

So the stuff I dont like so far- Gloss touchscreen and surround shows so many finger prints” Already have a friend looking into making me a fiber piece to match the other fiber, gloss buttons with sunroof open are so shiny they show reflections of the sky which makes you thing they are flashing when a cloud or something passes by when driving. Not sure how to fix this one yet, hazard button is longer than the other buttons so when putting you phone on the charge mat you press it.

Had my first slight problem. The overflow coolant reservoir hose to the radiator wasn’t seated all the way so it leaked about a quart of coolant on my drive way.
I’ll keep updating.

Well, this afternoon, I finally received my Window Sticker, indicating that my vehicle has been released from the factory

For the record:

  • Ordered on 11-7-20 at around 2:30PM CT
  • Received VIN in about a week
  • They started building these vehicles on 2-4-21
  • My vehicle started down the assembly line on 2-22-21
  • I was able to print out my build sheet on 2-25-21, indicating it had exited the assembly line, and was waiting on Final Inspection (Status "I")
  • I received an e-mail from Customer Service telling me that my vehicle was "Shipping", but since I was not able to print the Window Sticker, my assumption is that it went to "J" status
  • I was able to get my Window Sticker today, meaning it went to "K" status

Elapsed time from order to being released from the factory: 130 days, which is 3 days shy of 19 weeks, and it was 4 months and 10 days . . . now, it will probably take another 2-3 weeks before it is delivered to the dealer (speculating here), at which point it will go to a high-end upholstery shop to replace the crappy suede seat covers with leather . . . probably only a 2-3 day process, but still, I am looking at almost 5 months from start to finish . . . of course, it was almost 3 full months before they even started building these vehicles (11-7-20 to 2-4-21), so the actual time to build and deliver to dealer isn't all that bad, about average (5-6 weeks), but I am spoiled . . . my last vehicle I ordered, a 2019 TrackHawk, only took 26 days from the day I ordered it until I took delivery, which is pretty impressive . . .
