Just ordered my Durango Hellcat

I called two local Dodge dealerships today, one who wouldn't sell a Hellcat for under $10k ADM, and the other selling at MSRP. Guess which one I ordered from?

I was given a delivery lead time of about 10 weeks, but we'll see if that'll hold.

Just got a call from my dealer! He says he just got an email from Dodge that there are 177 sold orders in the system that were not made yet, and that Dodge is moving things around to make it happen for all of the sold orders. He should have more info for me in a couple weeks, but this was great news for me, so I thought I would share. My dealer didn't have an allocation at the time that I ordered, so I was worried mine would be canceled, but now it sounds like I shouldn't have to worry about my order being canceled anymore! Just have to be patient for a little while longer... Hopefully this is good news for a few of the 176 others that may be following this thread.

my salesman told me today that he’s working with someone else who ordered a few days after me whose Hellcat is stuck in D1 status still. Hopefully Dodge squared away the builds to get more of them out.

I ordered day one and can't pull a build sheet and I'm not too far away from walking away from it. Talking to some people at Rivian about an R1S. No skin off my back if they are going to take more than 6 months from ordering to get me my vehicle when there are so many others that didn't order early and are already driving theirs. Plus, I wouldn't mind pulling 0-60 in the Rivian in 3.0 seconds, not to mention gas isn't exactly going in the right direction either. My dealer and I are going to have a chat this week about a number of things....timeframe, the garbage bench seat that won't even have the embroidered logo and I'm not exactly psyched about having to look my paint over in a $90k vehicle like it was a Yugo.

Mine arrived at the dealership yesterday while they were closed; the sales manager called me an hour before he even got to work to tell me. I was present during the PDI, and checked all the stuff that's been reported, but mine was fine.

Completed the paperwork and in the next day or two, it's going to the upholstery shop to replace the suede inserts with leather, and back to the dealership afterward for me to pick up.

I am a day one order with continually pushed back "Ship date" but overall I am not crazy worried, they said they would be building them for 6 months and about 2000 units maybe 500 built so far and under 2 months in. Just hope the production doesn't have to any hiccups.

I want mine though and cant wait for it. only thing that is trash is dealers getting orders not prioritizing sold customer orders.

Had my first problem with the Hellcat. After a cold/warm start, I heard a loud squeaking sound coming from what appears to be under the engine on the driver’s side that went away after the truck warms up. It sounded like a belt but it was too low in the engine bay and towards the back.

Took it into the dealer this morning and they confirmed that it’s the driver’s side cat that’s making the noise. They’re going to replace the cat whenever they can get one.

Ok Durango brethren- I am not special and don’t think I deserve special treatment. But...Talk me down from the ledge. I am frustrated. I waited for the ordering banks to open on Nov 6th, and drove 90 minutes to be their early at 9am. Ordered my 6th SRT vehicle - and gave them a check for $10,000. ( check was cashed in Dec)
Sold my 2018 SRT Durango 2 weeks ago to make room in the wallet and garage.

Vehicle is not even built yet. On top of that I am reading about a unusually high number of defects on this forum.

seriously considering bailing. I can get a beautiful, new Mercedes GLC 63 AMG right now for $79K with all the options. I can buy a dependable tune ( hand held tuner) to add 100 Hp for a car that will actually beat the Hellcat.

am I insane?

Just my two cents....Have had mine two weeks now with no paint defects, no carpet cut short or or pieces missing. There have been no noises or check engine lights. I took it into work and raised it on the rack and no loose hoses etc....Mercs are great cars ( depending on the model ) but they are common. My wife drives an AMG model it’s fast, holds great in the turns. But there’s something about the rawness and limited run of the Durango that just makes me smile. I got nervous reading everyone’s problems but am glad I waited. I could of always argued my 5k deposit back if I was delivered four wheels with missing door handles, carpet cut short, a hair in the clear closet, rail dust specs baked in the paint etc....

Well performance stock for stock favors the HC..once you start comparing based on various mods then you have a whole bunch of different fruits in the basket. The ? you need to answer for yourself ...do you want your driving thrills in the lobby of a Hilton garden Inn or a Ritz Carlton.... 😜

Look on car gurus. There is several in Florida for under $80K

this one is loaded with everything I would want and somethings I don’t want( adaptive cruise, lane departure, etc)
Scheduled into port on 4/8. Dealership a week later. Same price almost as my Hellcat build.

went down this path with my company car and unfortunately ended with me not happy and I traded it in for a Audi.

the interior looks great but quality lacks and is extremely squeaky. Plus they give you a button for everything and you Feel like your in a plane cockpit. The Durango lacks the luxury but even with a tune that MB would get trashed by a Tuned Durango Hellcat. Ask me how I know! HHP will fill you in

My Current garage-2010 V10 Audi R8, 2020 Audi S4, 2001 Audi TT “Big turbo build”, 1991 Skyline GTR “RB26 Big Twin Build” , 2021 Hellcat Durango and a 2019 Ford F-150.

Dear lord, are we really cross shopping GLCs with a Durango Hellcat?

The GLE63S is the closest AMG competitor to the DDHC in this segment, and good luck getting into a decently equipped one of those for less than $130k, and lose 1/3 of that driving it out the lot. And if you want a third row in your SUV let me welcome you to your $145k well equipped GLS63S that’s going to be slower than the DDHC.

The fact that you have to go down a segment to a compact SUV to get similar performance to a DDHC tells you what an awesome performance value it is, and not that the GLC is a valid alternative.

And I say this being a big AMG fan with one in the garage and one on order ... but come on now.

Your kind of missing my question. Nobody is cross shopping anything.
Just frustrated by the piss poor Dodge/Stelantis process. Just Thinking about options I have.
Not sure there is a bigger Durango/SRT/Hellcat fan than me. How many have already owned 5 SRTs? How many followed this close enough to be at the dealership on November 6th at 9am? how many put down $10K?

Never had this poor of an experience with SRT before.
I still choose the DDHC. But losing its luster as the weeks roll by.
Thought some good dialogue might kick me back in. That’s all.

I don't think you're being fair to the process. It's 2021 but let's not forget that, technically, we're still under the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic. We may not know exactly how big of an impact this virus has had on automobile production. But I will say I am grateful that Dodge stayed the course. They could have just cancelled this project. But they didn't.

As for complaints, someone posted a few days ago that forums are for complaints. Most of the owners who don't have an issue also don't have a reason to be on a forum. If you are as big of a fan of SRT as you say you are, and yes we all know you put 10k down since you can't stop mentioning that point... :D , you will wait this out.Mine surprised me. A few days after being told it was in Michigan, it was at my dealer and on the lot. The minor cosmetic issues I found were mostly transport issues. So far, everything else appears to have been put together solidly.

My suggestion would be just forget about it. Drool over the pics others post but don't stress on the delays in getting yours. I fully expected to get mine sometime in April and ended up pleasantly surprised. I hope the same happens in the case of all you guys waiting on deliveries.

I chose the DHC in no small part for the 3rd row and towing capacity. If I didn't want either of those abilities I'd probably be in a SQ5 or maybe a CPO E63S wagon.
Guys that bought these without the tow package and with the silly 'lightweight' package that eliminates the 3rd row just bought the wrong vehicle. They should've bought a Trackhawk.

On the same token, I think it's ridiculous to get the tow package on a Hellcat equipped vehicle. I don't have anything to tow and never will. I'll be taking it to the drag strip and have the lightweight package for more room for cargo. Everyone has their own wants and needs for the vehicle. What you think is "silly," I love about the Hellcat. I'll be getting the Lightweight package because I didn't need a third row, not to mention I've already had 3 SRT Jeeps and the interiors suck compared to the new Durango and more expensive as well. So I think getting a Trackhawk is "silly" when you can have a lower production vehicle with the same powertrain that doesn't have the same boring interior as a 2013 JGC Laredo...to each their own.
