I had been in the market to replace my dd with a nice/fast utilitarian one.

A year ago around this time I got a RS6 Avant launch allocation that I jumped on. That rollout became a poopshow and the first cars are only getting delivered now as opposed to last May, so I bailed on it mid last year, which is too bad cause I really wanted that car but got to a place where I waited for my food for so long at the restaurant that I wasn't going to enjoy it no matter how good it was going to be.

So I started looking for something else. Thought about Trackhawk but new the gen was about to be updated. Looked at a GLE63S but didn't love it at that price. When the DHC was announced I had an order in for a GLS63. I cancelled it and swapped to the cat as I am more attracted to performance than I am to badges, in fact one of the things I like the most about the cat is its sleeper quality.

I 'm not winkle squeezing level of excitement but I am looking forward to it and how it compares to previous high performance dds I've had the fortune to own.

I mean I'm in D1 with a ship date of today.

It probably isn't built yet but unless something significant has happened to grind everything to a complete halt I doubt that I'll have to wait till the summer.

Summer starts June 20th, the very last ones should be delivered early summer, so that's when deliveries end not start.

Your thinking is based on traditional model years. This is anything but a traditional year. Besides Covid-19 it has already been stated that microchip shortages are affecting automobile production. And some lines have come to a complete halt. I wouldn't hold my breath. Our orders are in. That's all that matters.
Well, I am familiar with FCA delays. My TRX was supposed to be built in October and was only built last week, hopefully it will be delivered next week.

That said, my understanding is that the announcement that the DH will stop being made in June is recent, meaning that if there were known issues at the assembly line Dodge wouldn’t have stated that month as the end date.

Who knows. I’ll stay hopeful for an early delivery until told otherwise. :)

But I seriously doubt that deliveries will start in the summer.

Nice! Now don't go getting all giddy like those YouTubers that drive them to junk condition the first week they have them and then don't understand why Dodge might not fix the the broken suspension and flooded engines. ;)
Ha, no worries there. My plan is to use it as intended just like I did to its obsolete predecessor. :)

Anyhoot, apologies for the narcissistic derail, I’m just happy that they’re making vehicles again.

How did you do this? I ordered 11/30 and I still don't have a VIN.
It doesn't go exclusively by order dates. It can make a difference all things being equal but from what I understand the manufacturing algorithms prioritize paint colors, options, constraints, and other factors.

There's people that ordered their TRX hour one that are still waiting for it, whilst there are orders from two months later and dealer inventory orders already on dealer lots and in people's driveways. For example for the first month almost all the trucks made were black, even before so called 'launch edition' trucks. It's created a lot of consternation.

Just brutal ... so sorry to see this @Pedes_Nex :(

We'll see what happens whenever mine gets delivered. After my TRX shitshow if this one comes in with similar unacceptable issues it will most certainly be the last vehicle I ever buy from Stallantis or whatever they call themselves next week.

Dear lord, are we really cross shopping GLCs with a Durango Hellcat?

The GLE63S is the closest AMG competitor to the DDHC in this segment, and good luck getting into a decently equipped one of those for less than $130k, and lose 1/3 of that driving it out the lot. And if you want a third row in your SUV let me welcome you to your $145k well equipped GLS63S that’s going to be slower than the DDHC.

The fact that you have to go down a segment to a compact SUV to get similar performance to a DDHC tells you what an awesome performance value it is, and not that the GLC is a valid alternative.

And I say this being a big AMG fan with one in the garage and one on order ... but come on now.
