I have to say the only thing I don't like about my 2016 R/T is the racetrack taillights. I think they look ridiculous and are very distracting to other drivers at night. Opinions? Fixes?
Not too long back I was on the 465 loop around Indy at night and in front of me scattered across 5 lanes of traffic moving at 70 mph were 3 Chargers and 2 Durangos, all with racetrack rear lighting. Looked like Star Wars and they were all hunting something down. Made all of the other normal vehicles disappear in reality. My only issue with them is that there is a zero chance a cop will lose you in a sea of red tail lights!im pretty sure a blind cop could find our Durango's!!
I was about to call shenanigans, but that would be awesome. My favorite part about the track light is the switch under the dash so you can set the color.
JK there's no switch![]()

Depends on the stateAwesomely illegal too.
Your brake lights would still need to be red. The track lights are just accent lighting. I know it would be majorly illegal to run in PA but other states allow different things. Ohio allows underglow lights and I've seen many with different color front turn signals such as green. So it would all depend on what the law says for each state some even go as deep as municipality laws.Is there a state (other than catatonic) that would allow the rear lights to be anything but red?
They don't light up all the way across though, my MIL just got a new 2017 a few months ago. Its surprisingly nice inside, but the exterior looks take some getting used too to say the least.Add the Kai Sportage to the growing list of imitators (Lincoln Navigator and MKZ)

Personally I love our racetrack lights. By far the most well done in the industry.
I would suggest she take it to the dealership and find out why. Because they're supposed to be lit all the way across. They don't light up all the way across though, my MIL just got a new 2017 a few months ago.. --

Glad to hear, would hate to think of you being ashamed of your rear end! Thanks for all the great opinions guys! You've pointed out aspects of the racetrack taillights that I hadn't considered, and they have changed my opinion. I like unique and the 14+ Durango is definitely that.
Sorry, my bad. I assumed '17 Durango -- didn't read the part that you were referring to a KIA.I would suggest she take it to the dealership and find out why. Because they're supposed to be lit all the way across.
