I like my Durango and I’m bored

Here’s some purty pictures I took the other day. Hopefully it will soon get Brembos, 20x11 wheels with 315/35 tires, and coil-overs soon for all that extra weight from my wheelchair ramp

Wheels I plan on mounting them on have SRT/Hellcat offset so they shouldn’t be too bad.

So dodge built an SRT Durango for one lap of America with the red eye hellcat engine. It had 20x11 wheels, I gotta find out what tires.
My plan to run lapping days with the wife’s bmw 430i is out the window and I’m again thinking I wanna use the Durango.
Because of my super long arms and legs I have trouble pushing cars when the steering wheel is so f’ing far away. The last car I used for lapping was a shitsubishi evo x MR. I liked it but my biggest complaint was how far away the steering wheel was. I’m also disabled. Climbing into a spec car with a cage just isn’t gonna happen. The Durango is perfect with the easy exit seating especially. I love the V8. In my opinion it’s a modern 7-seat f-body. Ancient suspension but still a good source of fun. A little turbo 4 or 6 cylinder will never have that torque or that growl.
I do have 5 kids and my youngest is autistic. He absolutely loves going to races or things like that with daddy. He loved the supercharger so much that I had in my 4Runner. Blah blah blah, this truck is about fun. I wanna build a sexy sounding exhaust
So the local exhaust shop is run by a really cool guy. We had a long chat and he basically said just do your research. Buy what you want and I’ll put it on. He just warned me about drone. What sounds awesome but doesn’t drone. I’m thinking x pipe and glass packs or mini mufflers. Thoughts on this…

later we’ll talk about coil overs, brakes, tires etc…
From a YouTube video and all the comments it looks like an x pipe will create drone. So i guess cut out suitcase and 2.25” straight pipe. Anybody thoughts on rear resonators?
Why coilovers? Aren't they for lowering?
Coil overs are all sorts of adjustable. Not just lowering. Stiffer springs will be enough for most but I want to lower the center of gravity and remove some weight. The biggest feature of coilovers is corner balancing. Why race cars use them. Not so comfortable but the wife already hates my Durango, she calls it a farm truck cause I let the kids get dirt on the seats.

I don’t want shit coil overs but not a lot of options. Have my eyes set on the most expensive Durango ones I can find. Hopefully not too shitty. FV Suspension - Your Coilover & Air Ride Suspension Professionals

I have Megan racing coilovers on my 12 SRT charger I really like them easy to adjust and they’re dampening as well so the ride is honestly pretty good for a lowered muscle car

I should get in touch with AMR in Washington. He built custom coil overs and strut bars for me and a friend who also had same car as me. The guy at AMR even came to the track with us sometimes. I should also contact a race prep shop down the street from me and maybe I can get some help.

I was just talking with someone, maybe a viper engine one day. Sidepipes, slammed wide body, etc… Keeps me occupied. I know just pointless rambling right now. Lots of people drag race these things, some of us are willing to turn the steering wheel.

look up any and all youtube vids/articles of the one lap Durango to see if you can get info on the setup...one of the drag racing fans here has removed considerable weight as well..
Yes, I follow HEMIWOT’s posts religiously. He probably thinks I’m annoying.

So haven’t really done much of anything to my Durango we call Gomez(wife’s BMW is Morticia) but I have made a few changes to suit my individual taste.
While waiting on paperwork at dealership when I bought car I ordered an AEM dry flow filter.
I removed the dorky engine cover, jack, tools
Ordered Amazon plastic covers for interior chrome trim and painted silver to match an existing piece
Front windows are tinted
Added the dumb paddle shifter extensions
Today I cut this, more for ease of entry as I’m disabled and that stupid piece just annoys me.

I’m dead broke so I’ll talk about my plans.
So I need brembos, stainless lines, and slotted rotors and better pads. Probably powerstop. Gonna need wheels and tires right away too.
Coilovers will come next. Then exhaust just cause I love the noise.
Power is a crutch so that will be last upgrade. It moves ok for now but I love superchargers.
I think I want a whipple, forged internals, headers, cams, all those necessary goodies for about 560 whp.

Check out youtube videos of blastin bobs resonator delete with the suitcase left in place. Gives you some extra braaap and low idle growl without adding significant drone at speed. I'm thinking of going that route myself. The blastin bobs pipes are pretty economical, too.
I think I’m gonna get blastin bobs 4” black tips. According to another video no drone if I keep cylinder banks separate. So I’ll get suitcase cut out and 2.25” pipe welded in plus the rear resonator delete. But that’ll come after I get brakes. I found an awesome deal on brembos with the pads and rotors i want. So I may either go with wheel spacers or 20x10s and 295s. Tomorrow’s my Anniversary and I’m doing vow renewal and then we have big plans in New Orleans so hopefully we will have enough cash left over
