I got my oil changed May 14 and it has already burned down to 65% according to my gauge. Is this normal for DD?

what the '14 GC FSM says about the oil-life indicator FYI:

The oil change indicator system will remind you that it is time to take your vehicle in for scheduled maintenance.
On Electronic Vehicle Information Center (EVIC) equipped vehicles “Oil Change Required” will be displayed in the EVIC and a single chime will sound, indicating that an oil change is necessary. Operating conditions such as frequent short-trips, trailer tow, extremely hot or cold ambient temperatures, and E85 fuel usage will influence when the “Oil Change Required” message is displayed.
Based on engine operation conditions the oil change indicator message will illuminate, this means that service is required for your vehicle. Severe Operating Conditions can cause the change oil message to illuminate as early as 3,500 miles (5,600 km) since last reset. Have your vehicle serviced as soon as possible, within the next 500 miles (805 km).

I used to always change oil every 5K miles using synthetic. But I'm older and lazier now, and don't keep my cars as long as I used to, so I decided to start using the oil life monitors. Given the high quality of synthetic oils these days along with the efficient fuel injection systems, I'm not convinced that shorter oil change intervals are extending engine life.

My most recent oil change was around 8500 miles and the oil life monitor was 14%. This was a mix of local, highway and about 500 towing miles. I'm guessing the oil life monitor would have allowed almost 10K miles before dropping to 0%.
