How about a Carlisle 2012 thread

Since we're already talking about Detroit 2012, I thought why not start talking about Carlisle 2012?

Provided there's no last minute emergencies (Grandad passed away last year and the family made me attend the funeral. :( It also landed on the wife's B-day) I plan to be in attendance this year. I grew up in the Harrisburg PA area and could drive it blind folded to get wherever and currently live only 15 mins or so from the fairgrounds. I look forward to meeting everyone there

BTW, as of now.

Don't stress over "showfield." It's nice to have a good looking vehicle, but the vast majority are just there to hang out and there'll be plenty of average and even ratty vehicles.

+1 "showfield" gets you admission and close-in parking, nothing else implied. If Lauren's in town, she may well rent a Chrysler product just to do that. :)

For the DOC, Carlisle is kinda like the Club Picnic, in a big automotive amusement park. From proudly displaying your vehicle, to wandering the flea market, to just hanging out under the tent - there's something for everyone.

+3. If they'll let my high mileage beater into the "show field", everyone is invited!! Really, it just gets you in everyday and a premo parking spot instead of walking in from outside like the commoners.

Seriously, we love to have as many folks there as possible. It's a great time? even in a gully washer with a river running right through the middle of our layout (and completely destroying my wax job!) :bugeyed:

Well, I've preregistered and am going to try whatever camping Carlisle offers via their registration. I'm not picky and just need a place to crash at the end of the day. I'm looking forward to it already!

Just a heads up. Got a call today from the hotel wondering when they should expect people to start booking the block of rooms I got for us?

Indy?? beater?? not hardly my friend!! let's get enough people registered so we don't have to pay for the tent!! if we get close and are only a couple short, I can register my other rango and Ram under the club's name.

I do believe a few of us have already registered Don.
As for the tent, we hope to get it for free. In the past all DOC events had a small club fee to cover some of the giveaways and possibly some door prizes.
As stated above, we set up the tent to serve as our shelter and kitchen with everyone bringing some goodies as well.
This thread is a bit unofficial and, as we get closer, we'll refine it to make an accurate list of who' coming and what they're bringing.

I did my gate-and-go registration this weekend, but I'm staying at the Homewood Suites for points reasons.

My brother-in-law will be coming along again this year, probably with both of his sons this time.

Lauren will probably drive down Saturday early-AM to join us and then stay for the work week.

Unless we have lots of empty passenger seats, I'm going to have to buy some tickets I guess.

Yesterday I painted my rear calipers in preparation. :)

I have a question. Say one can only attend Saturday due to their other half having a birthday on Friday and even an "act of god" isn't gonna let them attend that day. What would be the best option to getting showfield admission for one day? Would I have to pay the $40 and just not use the other days or do they sell one day passes?

Yeah, I'm trying to avoid long walks? I like them, but my lower back and torn disks don't! I think I'll just get the showfield pass and use it when I can.

Cheaper to buy the showfield pass, even if you only use it one day.
Preregister and you save more!

My passes came in the mail today so I'm all set!

BTW, do we have a Durangoville 2012 attendee pic yet?? Will there be one?? Just wondering.
