It sounds like you have air in the system. Was the T stat housing that went in OEM? If not, you may have a flaky T stat.

I'd check that first. Possibly the part is still under warranty.

There may be an AC cutoff that engages if the system thinks it's overheating. When you say bone dry, are you talking about the AC lines not having condensation on them?

I think the the system still has air in it.
Until you get that sorted correctly, it won't work the way it should.

Does the fan come on? There should be a low speed, but it can ramp up to a higher speed if needed. The fan should activate when you turn the AC on. Does it?
