Hey guys. I have the mopar kit from the retrofit source. I’m using the 9005 6500k bulbs. I was wondering if anyone had trouble getting their bulbs to fit into the grooves correctly? I heard you can use
9005 or 9006. The passenger side isn’t sitting correctly causing it not to have that tinge of blue cut off line.

I installed the same kit with 9005 bulbs a while back as well. It's a tight fit, and I had to work at it to get them in, but I think they are installed properly. My issue is beam coverage - I'm not sure I have the correct bulbs in there. From all I've read, you need the return wire at the bottom of the bulb, so the shadow doesn't block light from where you need it. They make two styles, depending on the socket in your vehicle. I can't tell from the photos on their site how mine are configured - the wide slot is on the bottom in the Durango, but I'm not sure how the bulbs are oriented, and it's a complete PITA to access them to check.

I tried to contact their customer service almost two weeks ago to see if they can shed any light on the situation :sneaky:, but their recording says "Due to the holiday season, our telephone hours are 10am to 2pm" even though it's the end of January. I sent them an e-mail through their site, and 10 days later, no response. I finally found an e-mail for the CEO and contact him yesterday. He did get back to me last night, said they are way behind on customer service, but promised someone would contact me today. I don't know if that helps you any, but I'll let you know what I hear.

I just got a call from TRS. The guy reviewed my order and did some research, and said I needed 9012 bulbs which would put the return wire at the bottom when it is installed correctly in the socket. They are sending me a new set of bulbs at no charge. He said the system probably defaults to the 9005 bulb and I didn't realize I needed something different. I checked, and the original halogens are 9012s. You may be having an issue if you are trying to install them with the wire on the bottom and the tabs don't align properly.

I went through my emails, I actually ordered from lightwerkz. But same products... but still I wonder if that’s been my issue too. I’ll have to check a little later when the rain stops.

Hid out performs led every day of the week.

How so? Depending on what bulb/brand you get, LEDs have matched if not exceeded HID light output. LEDs are plug and play. You don’t need to install a harness and ballast, etc. Thats 100x less work. LEDs are more stable than HIDs, and the bulbs last much longer. HIDs color shift over time, if you need to replace just one, it won’t match the other. LEDs fire up right away whereas it takes HIDs a minute to reach peak output. And LEDs burn much cooler and use less energy. They are also dual beam, the ones that are stock in the Durango for example have halogen high-beams.

HIDs are now antiquated, this is for a reason... the technology has evolved.

Yeah I mean the halogens have a better light spread then the HIDs. Someone had a detailed post on here regarding hids vs led.

Halogens have better light spread than LEDs? Aside from output which effects distance, the light spread/beam pattern is all determined by the projector. I ordered mine from VLEDs.com. I got the Micro Evolution which has 3500 lumens/bulb. They came out with even brighter ones since then, the Micro Extreme with 4500 lumens. Mine are very bright, I’d imagine the brighter ones would beat any HIDs. I thought I read someone on this forum saying that you lose the proper cutoff with LEDs in halogen projectors, but with mine the cutoff is a robust blue/purple with a sharp line. And they are dual beam. Can’t be beat IMO.

I received the replacement bulbs (9012s) from TRS last week, and finally had time to swap them out today. Huge difference! I can see at night now, clearly having the return wire in the correct location (at the bottom of the bulb) made all the difference. I may need to tweak the aim a little, but coming home from dinner tonight, on a dark road, I could really see the road well - they're the headlights I was hoping to have when I first made the change.
