ok, so i know how to remove them on the front seats. but i bought the dodge "leather" seat covers and you need to remove the headrest completely to put the cover on. how do you disconnect the cable thats attached to the headrest?

Hey was there a resolution to this? How do I figure out if I need to do a battery disconnect, for how long, etc before I remove the headrests?
Big fat disclaimer that i know nothing, have never touched it myself, and might be stupid and misreading!
That said the service manual really doesn't say much about disconnecting the electrical on the headrests. "the pigtail wire and connector are routed through the center of one of the support posts and down through the guide sleeve into the interior of the seat back, where it is connected to a dedicated take out and connector of the seat wire harness" It does say that unlike airbags they can be reset if activated (sounds like you might need a scan tool besides physically resetting them)
But the section on the working on the ORC (occupant restraint controller) mentions that before futzing with that to kill it's capacitor. Apparently if you upset that then it will blow the airbags as if the vehicle rolled. Doesn't specifically say anything about futzing with the headrests offending it. But to be sure I'd probably safe the ORC. "disconnect and isolate the negative cable from the battery. Wait two minutes for the system capacitor to discharge before further service"

Pretty sure you can tell if you have the active headrests if the headrest has an extra hump on the back. I had no idea that system existed until we got our Caravan with it. I'm assuming both are the same, between the van and the D. Regardless of the removal procedure, I'd definitely err on the side of caution and disconnect the battery before proceeding.

I've mentioned this previously in another thread. If the connector is Yellow, it most likely deals with the SRS system and you should use caution when making or breaking this termination. The term "Reset" in this case I believe refers to the ability to manually be able to refasten the headrest without replacement in the event it is activated, unlike an airbag.

Do you have a DIY thay explains how to get the back plastic off of the drivers & passenger seat? I'm trying to run cables for Tv monitors but can't figure out how to correctly take that part of the seat off. I DO NOT want to break that at all! Need assistance...
23 - Body / Seats / PANEL, Seat Back, Front / Removal
REMOVAL
1.Pull rearward at each lower corner (1) to release the metal retaining clips.
2.At the top of the panel push in (1) and pull down (2) at the same time.
3.Pull down on the bottom (3) and release the upper retaining hooks.
4.With the upper hooks (1) loose from the seat back frame, rock the panel from side to side and release the side hooks (2).
5.Remove the seat back panel.

Wow.... That is intense! I'll try early tomorrow morning & let you know how that goes. Hope I'll be able to get them back on!
Hey guys, so I managed to get the back of seat off, run wires and get everything put back together in about a hour... that was for one seat lol. It's not as bad as I thought, once I did the driver's seat I'm feeling confident about the passenger seat. I'll tackle that one this afternoon. It took a hour also because I zip tied and bolted down ground wiring etc. I think the hardest part was getting the wiring from the tv monitor into back of seat. I had to get a wire hanger and tape wires to it and run it next to headrest bar. Man was it tight, but being careful pays off because tearing leather would not be good at all. I took a couple of pictures and I'll put once I get a chance this weekend. I still need to locate the fuse box so I can run the power wire for the monitors.
I did it a few months ago, even got them custom embroidered. Posted these instructions...hope it helps.
