So, my 2017 Citadale (v6) got caught in a freak hailstorm last week (golf ball size and larger). Thankfully only the body and taillights were damaged, no glass damage/water intrusion. Insurance just gave me $7300 to get it all fixed.

The body shop’s big ticket items was a hood replacement and literally pulling off the roof panel and welding a new one in its place because of where the dents are.

I was considering telling the shop to order a SRT hood instead of the standard hood because I like the look.

I assume it is a drop in replacement? Is there anything else you would do? Is there anything I should keep an eye on after they replace my entire roof?

By the way, be careful with your back taillight bar on the hatch - it apparently doesn’t have 3rd party replacements - OEM is the only option at $1000!

Sorry for your frustration. Roof panel replacement is, unfortunately, major surgery. Dismantling a lot of the interior, etc. Not sure if they remove the windshield or not.....I think so. Sunroof complicates it even more. When I had it done years ago on a mustang (tree damage, not hail damage), I found some small burn marks on parts of the interior from welding slag. Sold the car shortly thereafter.

When we had hail damage on my wife's minivan, we opted to keep the money and live with the dents. Nobody sees the roof anyway.....LOL.

There was a quick hailstorm while I was on my way to the dealer to take delivery of my DSRT. Fortunately the hail was small and, to the dealer's credit, they pulled the truck inside......but I looked at the roof and hood VERY carefully before accepting delivery....

When we had bad hail in VA that's when I got my aftermarket SRT hood. If it's OEM SRT hood it will be a perfect fit, make sure it has the bezel vents though, those might be extra parts. Yeah, hail damage sucks! Good luck.
