After reading through the info on the pages, I wonder why couldn't '98-'02 Ds order the Shelby brake setup for the rears via Dodge/Mopar. One would think the dealer would have all the necessary order info on file? Seems logical to me (as opposed to getting something close with Stillen's aftermarket stuff.) And I wonder what slotted and vented rotors do they refer to?

Well, since I've had the
same Stillen AP-6 Big Brake upgrade on my D since Oct 99, I can answer some of that.
The aftermarket kits sold by Stillen in 98/99 were
exactly the same as what was used to convert a stock D into a Shelby SP-360 (as the article points out, Shelby Ds came "stock from the factory" and were sent to one of two locations in the US for "conversion" into an SP-360 for final delivery to the customer.) I say the kits "were" the same because one of our fellow D owners upgraded his D to the Stillen AP-6 Big Brake kit recently and Stillen has made a few design changes to it since 98/99 (different pads, slightly different mounting method for the calipers, etc.)
The front slotted/vented rotors are Brembo.
I know this because when I finally had to replace my front ones a few years ago, the new ones came from Stillen in a Brembo box with a Brembo part # on it and where an exact match to the old worn out ones.
As for the rear slotted/vented rotors.
No idea who makes them as I'm still using the originals (as long as the slots are visible, I figure there's no need to replace them) and the kit as originally delivered was in 4 boxes with Stillen logs on them. I seem to remember there was something stamped into the face of the rotor (visible in the above pic) that may be the manufacturer's name but don't remember what it said now. :? Next time I rotate my tires, I'll take a look and see what it says.
I can tell ya the rear calipers and pads are the same ones GM used on the C5 Vette (got that little tidbit straight from a phone call to a Stillen Brake Pro tech.) That makes finding replacement pads (or a caliper if I ever need one) real easy! I can also say with certainty the rotors are
not the same ones the Vette uses because I visually checked a C5 Vette rotor at a local parts place and it didn't have the "mini-drum" cast into the rear that's used for my e-brake.
Finally, when I checked back in 2003, parts for the Stillen brakes used on the Shelby Ds were
not available thru DC dealers nor Mopar (I tried to order new front rotors from a local dealer and was told I'd have to contact Stillen directly.) Heck, their computerized parts catalog didn't even show the Shelby SP-360 as a D variant? much less list any parts for it!!
Warning, shameless plug alert :cheesy:
