Fuel Pump Relay Safety Recall V62/NHTSA 19V-813

I didn't see another thread on here yet for the newest fuel pump relay recall, so I thought I'd ask if anyone has gone through the process yet and if the dealer only changed the relay to a new one of the same type/model as previously installed (that is, if you had an external relay previously installed).

I got my recall notice a few weeks ago but haven't contacted my local dealer yet...…..mostly because I can't stand what they did to me the last time I was there.

Wondering if they got any smarter in this years-long process or not. Your replies are welcome and appreciated in advance.

I have the first external harness installed, have an appointment with the dealership on Saturday for the second recall I assume. My issue is it decides to not do anything when I press the start button, or try the remote start. I can hear some buzzing and clicking but no cranking. After 2 hours of cooling down it’ll start no problems. Today when it happened (3rd time this month, just bought it), I swapped out the relay like I’ve seen suggested and it still didn’t start so I swapped the old one back in. Waited the requisite 2 hours and started up. This only happened so far in the afternoon, after a 45 minute to 1 hour period of not driving. Is my issue even the fuel pump relay recall BS or is it something else?
The relay is for the fuel pump and not for anything else so your problem is somewhere else since nothing happens when you try to start it.

Thank you. I’m saw a post about another bulletin for a WIN? module, maybe that’s it and I’ll try the pull m27 fuse next time it happens. It’s not listed on the mopar page for my car (2011 citadel) though. Thanks though.

I've gotten 2 notices plus a separate reminder to take my 2013 Durango for the Fuel Pump Relay Recall so I called the local dealer. They referred me to Parts where I was told they are only getting 1every week so they put me on the list but added don't expect it until November. So I called another dealer and they said don't expect it until next year maybe the summer of 2022. What's going on here? They urge us to get it fixed then they stop it in its tracks? They said if the current one fails, you can't start it. Any thoughts? I tried to call the NHTSA to complain but didn't get anywhere on their phone routing system.

If you had first external relay recall done... Easy fix. Replace relay... I keep extras in my vehicle... Never have had an issue. though.
You can get these...I did.

Like manbat said, get a few of them on your own. $25 and you'll get rid of all of your headaches while trying to rely on the Dealer network or parts shop at the dealer. You and me and the next guy can order a case of these things and get them next week, but Dodge can only order 1 a week. Right.

Hi TeePee,
Can you send us a message with your VIN and dealer info? We would like to look into this for you.

I have an appointment July 2nd to get the fuel pump recall done. Thankfully.
I've had the fix taken care of a couple of times over the past several years. It's a pain to deal with the non-starting issues and the wait from the dealer. What's the PN of the relay? I'd like to get a couple on hand so I can take care of it myself next time.
Hi Bunker,
Please follow up with us via PM to provide additional details regarding your concerns so we may determine how to best assist you.

I got the fuel pump relay notice too, was told that it's just another resend reminder for the people who haven't had theirs changed.

I got my 2011 Durango last October. Downloaded the Mopar app and put my cars info in to find the previous owner didn't have any of the 4 recalls done. So I called my dodge dealer about the recalls, said they were going to order the parts and contact me when they came in.. its now end of July, I called yesterday and was told that they have 3 of the 4 parts and that the fuel pump relay is the one that's been on back order and will be about another month before they get it. I attached screen shots of what the mopar app shows me for the recalls.

That's a load of bullshit that they can't get the relays at dealerships. I can order as many as I want today and have them on my doorstep within 2-3 days. It's not rocket science. I'm sure they have to order through their wonderful parts system.

Don't forget their relay will cost 3x that which you can buy on your own.

The last few posters are not aware that the last recall issued for it is a totally different set up. It does not use the same relay that you guys have purchased as spares. The fit and finish is better and it looks thought out and placed better.

Pictures of latest completed Recall please, specs on relays, post pictures of placement and socket used.

Like many of you guys, I carried a new one in my glove box. Just took it out for this picture. This has an actual bracket, Mopar part number and looks much more thought out.

Tom13DurangoRT I definitely gotta chime in on this post. Agree with you on 100% of everything and I hate to say it but the DodgeCares people do nothing for you! I have a 2012 RT that has stalled multiple times not on start up but while the truck is in motion. I have had the band aid fuel pump relay service done now 3 times, two of which were the latest V62 NONSENSE. The truck stalled not a week later on a highway luckily with nobody behind me. Prior to that latest service the truck sat at the dealer for a month because I told them I was not paying a dime for an issue chrysler has known about for years with class actions suits against them that they fail to even address or entertain. The dealer did not want to touch because there was nobody to reimburse them. They went back and forth with Dodge and were basically told that since the V62 service was already performed it must be another underlying issue and they were not responsible. What did I do?? I bit the effing bullet and had them install a new TIPM for $1200. The truck has not stalled and this was done back in June. My issue now just this weekend is the truck has MIL illuminated and the truck is in safety mode where it only gives me 4th gear. I had it scanned and its throwing off a bunch of codes related to trans computer. Gonna have to get this back to dealer now. Dodge claims they care on here and they are full of shit! We are on our own. They can build a 700HP DURANGO but cant seem to get it right with a $20 part.

Thanks for posting that. It appears they just used a different socket for better mounting and one of their standard relays. If you look up 4727370AA on a mopar parts site, you'll see that they use that same relay for the radiation fan, automatic shutdown, rear defroster etc... If you look for other relays on the vehicle you'll likely see the same part number marked on the relay.
The terminals on the relay are exactly the same as on the Omron relay. I'm assuming they also use a resistor across the coils. Does anyone know the current rating for the 4727370AA relay?
After the most recent recall mine had been fine for months, but has started stalling again at a more frequent rate. It has stalled 5 times since the last recall was performed. Always while driving. You have to come to a stop, put it in park, cycle the start button and it always fires right back up like nothing happened. The last one really scared my wife as it quit in a sharp turn. She was unable to keep it in her lane and came to rest in the other lane facing opposing traffic. She got it restarted and was fine, but it could have easily been a head on collision if someone was in the other lane, or came around the turn while she was restarting. I have an appointment at the dealer but am afraid that it will be the same as before, unable to duplicate and therefore no repair……..

That's scary. Ours has never stalled with the Omron relay. It sometimes doesn't want to start. If we cycle the ignition switch a couple times it starts.
