Well, after a year and a half it finally happened. I was stopped this morning by a Texas DPS patrolman to inform me that state law requires that the front plate be mounted somewhere on the front bumper. Mine has been riding peacefully on the dash, propped up by a rolled up hand towel for all this time. Fortunately, I already have a Sto-N-Sho mount so I can be legal in about 10 minutes. Oddly enough, I was having breakfast with some of the guys that I used to work with last Friday and the Ammo Can was visible from our table and one of the guys asked me why the plate was on the dash and why there wasn't a mount on the bumper. That simple question obviously jinxed me and caused this morning's events. I wonder how long I'll have to wait before I can put it back on the dash?
I am in Illinois and I bought my 2021 in October 2022 certified pre-owned from a Dodge dealer without the front bracket mounted. I told them to keep it off. Haven't been pulled over for it yet (speeding yes, plate no). There is a bill here in illinois proposing to do away with the front plate due to cost savings of the state just making one license plate so I am holding out for that too.

Last I heard the Feds are/were putting pressure on states to adopt and enforce front plate requirements so that surveilance cameras (public and private) can more reliably capture images that will help identify witnesses and suspects, related to terrorism and other criminal activities....

Washington DC even has the stones to ticket out of state cars that do not comply with their local states license plate laws. I live in VA, my cars are registered in VA, but have gotten "no front plate" tickets in DC for not complying with VA's laws.

DC sucks on many levels.......
That is totally illegal. I was a LEO in Maryland for 32 years. Another state with two tags. We saw DC and Va vehicles everyday without front tags and never stopped them. Illegal to enforce another states non-moving violations law.
I actually had a deputy stop me in King George Co Va for speeding. I was 8 MPH over, ok I’ll take the hit. Then he told me to roll up my driver’s window so he could check my tint. I explained my truck is not registered in Va, you have no authority to check for inspection violation. He then threatened to search my truck because I had a Harley bandana hanging from the rear view mirror. And yes he knew I was a LEO, because the first thing I did when he approached was put my hands out the window and advise I was armed and why.
To make this very long story short, he didn’t write me for the tint or bandanna.

BTW:
The state will "save" money on not issuing the 2nd plate, but don't expect the cost of said plate to go down.
It damn sure did not here in Ohio.

Don
Of course not, that is just a one-way street. As long as I legally don't need it then I don't need a discount.

I have run into a couple of King George and Stafford LEO that are douches, but most are great. I guess same is true everywhere. As for DC, I find most of the real cops to be great, too. But Parking Enforcement (and the Harbormaster, but that is a story for another day) don't give a f*ck whether what they do is legal or not. The front plate ticket that I got was given when I was parked. I tried to dispute by mail or e-mail (can't recall) and "lost," but they bank on the fact that a VA resident with a nice-ish car is not likely to waste a day in court fighting a $50 or $100 ticket. The lastest insult: my son, with a VA registered car (since he lives in VA) spends a couple of nights a week legally parked on the street in DC near his GF's house. A couple of weeks ago he gets a $100 ticket for not having a DC registration (even though there is no basis for him to have or to need a DC registration, and if he had a DC registration, he would be afoul of VA's laws). So we had to waste the time to electronically submit evidence of his Virginia residence. If they don't dismiss the ticket we WILL go to court to fight that one, since in theory they could write him the same ticket every week.

"You can't fight city hall," but if they keep up that bullshit I just might have to....

As long as it's a non-moving vision and doesn't affect your insurance rates just run without a front plate if you hate it that much and pay any tickets as an enjoyment tax. Up here is a cheap ticket so it's not a huge deal to set aside some money each year lol.

Zip ties, I didn’t want any holes drilled into my car! Been this way since I ordered my 2021!

I had the dealer leave off the front plate on the new SRT 392 to make life a little easier for the PPF installation; I was going to have PPF guy mount the front plate holder when he was done. But I think I like the cleaner look of the new bumper without it. I have gone with no front plate for the past 20 years on CTS-V's, Mustangs, and vette's...never been pulled over and only got the one BS parking ticket in DC. True, it is "probable cause" or otherwise a legal basis for a traffic stop in my home state, but I don't drive under the influence and I don't usually carry contraband, so I don't mind that risk....

Does look much better with the plate holder removed.

I drove in Maryland since the 90’s with no front plate. My corvettes had a block off plate that I told the dealer to not remove.

I was stopped twice between 1992 and 2019. Neither time did I receive even a warning.

We got the Stow and Show for our Challenger, and I just love it. From the looks of their site, it seems the only one they offer for the DD is a mounting that's offset at the very bottom of the front fascia, at least on the RT that I was looking at.

LOL, well we picked up our 23 R/T TNG today, and I was ready to just let em drill the from plate holder on, and my wife, God bless, her, pitched a fit and said NO. So we've ordered a Sto N Sho plate bracket for it. Personally I'm not thrilled with it attaching to the bottom/underneath the fascia lip, but we'll see how it goes and looks.

You can always swap back later.... I bought my 22 TNG last year and wasn't aware of a product like Sto n Sho or I would have tried that first... Although the salesperson did ask and made sure he told be how the std bracket attaches... You'll love the TnG, i sure do!
