Wow, 3000 mile oil changes!

That's good if they don't use it like Lexus used a similar plan on Leah's ES as an opportunity to try to stick their hand in your wallet.

My Prius came with that at 5k intervals for 100k.

The "catch" is it applies to the Citadel only (top of the line) and it gives Dodge a play over Jeep. Very interesting. Worth it too IMHO.

Also with the "Scheduled and recommended maintenance (6,000-mile intervals)", I wonder how many belts, radiator flushes, etc. that covers under standard maintenance schedules within 36k? Makes it even better.

A lot of those are mileage/time based. So you might have an item that hits at 6 months or 6k mileage and will be done at the 6 month mark whether the mileage is there or not, or as in my case, done earlier. I've yet to make a 3 month time frame for an oil change just because the mileage piles on so fast.

No you can still get a 300 Hp 4.7 in the Ram. The advantage the 4.7 has over the v6 is more torque.

I'd like to see (as would most people) the warranty get pushed up to the 15K mark per year. I know I'd pass that 12k per year, the only way I didn't once was putting the D into retirement for the year. Now she's back, just as strong, and she also got her new Ram stablemate.

As far as belts and such, check the scheduled maintenance for the Citadel and it'll tell you what they think the schedule for those should be. As belt technology improves, so does the mileage interval between replacements per the factory schedule. As examples, we've seen timing belts go from 65k to 100k and better and some with tensioners can go to 200k.

It's not based on miles per year, just miles total or years total. You get 36,000 miles or 36 months.
Drive 25,000 miles in one year? covered. Drive 36,000 miles in one month? covered.

They're based on 8000 mile intervals per Chrysler but, with the 3/36, you'll get your oil changes, tire rotations, cabin and air filters at 16000 and 32000 miles and, at 32000, you also get a tune up. So it's not a bad thing at all? except for us Chrysler techs who won't get paid anything for these services.

Don't you get paid a warranty base pay for this?

That's why it's always a good thing for the mechanic to be on the good side of the warranty claims person. You can make good money that way. It has been, and still is, a way to make up on what you loose on other things.

Yeah, that sounds like a good deal. But, I'd have to run the numbers ("total") in that, buying a lightly used '11 3yr old Citadel with 60k or less miles price thru vehicle's life cycle compared to purchasing the new `11 Gen3's total cost, new purchase price minus the maintenance for the first 36,000 + remaining maintenance costs. What sort depreciation costs does a new `11 incur during the first three yrs?

Absolutely true in most cases. However lately they(Chrysler) have made things more and more difficult and time consuming. By the time you spend to diagnose the vehicle then the 10 page written reports you have to do on some cars plus all the different price options you have to give(like replacing a motor vs rebuilding it) you run out of time before you even start the repair.there's a lot more to this story but I'm not going to bore everyone with it.Its just one of those "it's what it's" situations in life you have to deal with and make the best of it.

I understand that Chrysler may be giving you guys a hard time with all the paperwork but it seems to me they want to contest every warranty claim by an owner. I recently went thru a whole fiasco with my wife's Avenger R/T AWD. The torque converter has been replaced twice due to a shudder and they've done endless software upgrades to transmission control module.
The rack for the rack and pinion would also overheat on long rides and start jumping and clicking. I had to fight both issues tooth and nail to get them fixed as, every time, it was "we can't duplicate your complaint." In order for this company to succeed in the future they'll have to stand by their products without customers having to worry about techs that aren't willing to do paperwork.
As you said, it is what it is and you have to do what you have to do. You display the character that all techs should display with their customers.
