Fallen to the dark side

As many of you guys here know, I was having some troubles with my transmission. Even after the band adjustments and fluid/filter change, it still wasn't shifting right and was slipping. After much consideration, I traded the D in today on a new Midnight Blue 06 Charger R/T. I really hated to do it considering how much I loved my Durango.

When the dealers checked the Durango over, they found out that it wouldn't go into 4 low either. I tried and tried, even in neutral, stopped, etc., and it wouldn't go into 4 low. So with that said, I'm still a Dodge owner, just not a Durango owner  I hope you guys will still have us for the Smoky Mountain meet in April. We're dying to go.

I'll have pictures up probably tomorrow evening after I can get some daylight shots if anyone's interested.

On another note, I did pull a couple mods off the Durango before I traded it and will be posting them in the for sale section if anyone's interested.

Hope to still be welcome here

I like the look of that hood too except, from what I heard, it's around $1200 to get one!

You're 1/2 way there with the money you saved not needing tires for the wife's PU.
Just tell her we said it's required! Or just blame it on Indy, he always post all these pics anyway!

Somehow, I don't think that's going to fly lol. I'm lucky I got to tint it and buy the honeycomb grill with the red R/T symbol on it : :D

Should I send a letter from the President to Mrs VTengineer? LOL
Cmon, lets see some more pics.

A letter might help. :cheesy: The new grill hasn't come in yet, just ordered it last night, but once I get it in pics will ensue. :D

The red R/T is the classic emblem look like off the original Chargers and I like that aspect of it. I did a basic photoshop and don't think it looks bad.

Hmm, I've got a light package idea if you're a volunteer? :] Whelen tier 3 LEDs behind the grill just above the crossbar, high beam headlight flasher with strobes in the fog lights and a Whelen Inner edge headliner LED bar :p Can't ya tell I like Whelen!

I like both the white for the cleaner more refined look but the red for the classic approach. Go with whichever makes you happy VTengineer.

That doesn't look bad either but I still like the classic :cheesy: so I guess I'll go with that? especially since I already ordered it and it'll be here Tuesday. :)

As promised, here are the pics of the new grill and badge. It was getting dark so the lighting kinda sucks. I lightened up the last pic some so you can see the honeycomb grill a little better.

I don't know why you'd want to disable the MDS. I get 23.5mpg on the highway with it and I never even feel it switch from 4 to 8 cyl and back with the stock dual exhaust on the R/T. It might be a different story if I had something louder on it though., but still would live through it for the gas savings lol.

The Grill is one piece and was a major pain to install. I got plenty of bleeding cuts and bruises from that. You can buy it seperately from the badge, but I bought it together as a package deal. The emblem snaps in place on the honeycomb grill and the snaps are made specifically for that grill. It won't fit on the stock grille without a lot of modification and probably a good helping of glue lol.

I'd love to get that hood, found out its like $1700 after shipping though. I don't think the wife will EVER let me get that, and I know she's lurking on here reading what I say, I SWEAR SWEETIE, I'M NOT GOING TO GET THE HOOD! (quick, somebody distract her while I make a discreet purchase) LOL

There's a carbon fiber model of the SRT-8 hood for $900, with the dark blue car it'd look great leaving it unpainted for the superbee/daytona effect.

I noticed that the same company offers a fiberglass version of the hood for $600.

Sounds like a good choice VT! I can't decide between a Charger or 300C. Think of how much money you saved (and the things you could do) assuming the truck was paid off. I always heard the best thing to do was own a car a minimum of 3 years after paying off to save the money for a deposit on the next. Cars really have come a long way and hate to say but we have the Japanese to thank for giving the domestic clunkers of old some healthy competition.

Enjoy the Charger! I can almost smell the new car smell from here
