Fallen to the dark side

As many of you guys here know, I was having some troubles with my transmission. Even after the band adjustments and fluid/filter change, it still wasn't shifting right and was slipping. After much consideration, I traded the D in today on a new Midnight Blue 06 Charger R/T. I really hated to do it considering how much I loved my Durango.

When the dealers checked the Durango over, they found out that it wouldn't go into 4 low either. I tried and tried, even in neutral, stopped, etc., and it wouldn't go into 4 low. So with that said, I'm still a Dodge owner, just not a Durango owner  I hope you guys will still have us for the Smoky Mountain meet in April. We're dying to go.

I'll have pictures up probably tomorrow evening after I can get some daylight shots if anyone's interested.

On another note, I did pull a couple mods off the Durango before I traded it and will be posting them in the for sale section if anyone's interested.

Hope to still be welcome here

Hey you gotta do what ya gotta do.
Congrats on the new Charger and damn right we better see some pics of it!
You'll still be welcome at the rendezvous.

Of course you're still welcome. :)

Change is constant. That's why the DOC needs a Jeep section, a DCX auto section subset with popular models like Charger (and not a Shadow for instance LOL) etc., etc., etc. The DOC should add a few forum sections and be prepared for growth and embrace others while keeping to our roots as the primary focus being the D. If not, as folks transition from their high mileage Ds, they'll evidently leave us nearly forever. As proof I offer the office of DOC Presidency. Other than a post ever so often from Angela, no past Presidents who've held the highest of DOC posts even visits for a post a month. Not embraced and lost forever. Probably with the answer to what was wrong with your tranny.

BTW, what was the trade value (since I'm in the market for my son's D?)

Again, stick around!! I hope to see that Charger in a race in April down some back mountain road. :cheesy:

Thanks guys for not giving us the boot  I will have pics up tomorrow. Trade value on my D was $4k. They were going to have to auction it and, with almost 120k miles, the book value has went to the floor. On a good note, I got them to swap my brand new 32x11.5R15 BFG ATs with my wife's worn out 31x10.5R15 BFG ATs on her 05 Colorado Crew Cab, so I saved myself $600 there. They said they'd have probably went higher, but the tranny being unable to go into 4low was kinda bad on the value.

You might see the Charger in a race in April, as long as my wife isn't within a 50 mile radius? she has ESP that senses my lead foot from quite a distance! She says she wants to get the governor on it reduced to 70mph LOLOL Yea right!

I'll say that I loved my D, but I don't regret the change :) Vehicles have come a looooong way in 8 years, that's for sure.

I bet

I'm still driving my 5.9 SLT 4x4, but will have to wait 2 years till I get my nursing degree. Just imagine the stuff that'll be out then. :)

Thanks for the compliments guys! I loved the color too, much more than the bright silver or white one they also had. The interior has a good feel to it for the most part. I miss the cruise control buttons on the steering wheel, but I'll get over it. It's very roomy inside, even for a 6'6" guy like me.

To answer your question Anton, the MSRP Sticker on the car was $32930 and I bargained them down to $27700 and another $4000 for trading in the Durango, so I got it for a little over $23000 in the end.

You read my mind Indy. The mod bug starts early. Already looked into the R/T grill badge and I think I want to get the old school looking red one they put on the Daytona package Chargers. Problem is I think I have to get the blacked out honeycomb grill as well to get the emblem to fit on it right. I'm making an appointment for tomorrow to get the windows tinted too. :D

Nice ride! Tinted windows and the R/T Badge will look sweet!

Yea, I can't wait til it's done. :)

VTengineer, you're aware of the DOC rule aren't you?? Showing up at a DOC event without a Durango you must relinquish the keys for everyone to have a test ride! :cheesy: :cheesy: :cheesy:

Hmm, I must have missed that rule when I signed up. :cheesy: You guys will have to catch me first before I'd let you test drive. :] I didn't even let my wife test drive it til after we got home! I test drove another Charger last month and a Chrysler 300 in May and she didn't get to drive either one of those either. :)

#23 ·
I'm not sure how difficult it'll be to catch you when we're on a trail ride!
Unless you're going to pretend to be Bo and Luke Duke in that thing.

That's an awesome idea! Just gotta get a bull bar and weld my doors shut.

#25 ·
I have an idea:

At the Smoky Mountain DOC event give fast rides to passengers (who aren't wearing their seatbelts in the backseat = Plant Tour reference) of both VTengineer's new Dodge R/T and the "Fabled" IndyDurango and then people can debate which ride was faster!

I diggin' the SRT hood. I think it completes what otherwise is a large nothingness of a hood on the stocker. :) VTengineer, you might as well go get it now. Like all other factory mods, once it's gone you'll never get another one of them. It'll be too late and you'll be kicking yourself for not getting it earlier.

Look forward to seeing it, scoop and all, in TN :)
