My 98 Durango has started doing something strange. (1998 5.9L PT4WD).
Once and a while, when I start the truck and drive off, the engine will be rough and when applying light throttle the engine loses power. I even heard it backfire through the TB once (I think).
When I press the peddle it's like I'm out of gas and lose power. But then it recovers and all is well.
If, while it's acting up, I stop the truck and take it out of gear the engine is rough and missing. If I try to rev the engine I get misses.
Once the problem goes away it stays away for the rest of the trip. I'm not low on gas. I tried 2 bottles of dry gas in case it was water. The plugs and wire are less than 3 years old.
Anyone got any ideas?
