I posted before about this. I have really gotten up under the dash and looked at how things are put together. I'm betting the "plug" you guys are saying you have (when you really have a tow kit which I don't) plugs between the pedal and the wire harness. Could some one stick their camera up there and give me a picture? If I had more junkyards around I could go hunting there but I'm in the boonies. I'm getting no help from my dealer here, and would have to drive 40 min one way to get to a bigger dealership. I have checked and the truck and it does have a tranny cooler. Which makes me feel a little better. If I have a picture it might help at the dealer.

I installed a wire harness from the rear to the front and I'm working my 4 wire trailer fine. I just need to get the rest of the 7 wire going. The stupid drawings they give for the wiring just shows a blue wire wadded up under the dash. They don't have a single word on the drawing about the hook up (or a single word for that matter.) The last page shows a DB then points to a little trailer. This is all sooooo helpful! So if I can find the correct adapter it'll save me having to bore more holes in my firewall to run wires that are basically already there. My Gen 1 had the plug and play connection? boy do I miss that!!

I hope you're meaning a tranny cooler besides the one built into the radiator. The Towing Package Cooler is an additional one mounted in front of the radiator.

Hey thanks for the picture! Tells me what I thought is NOT true. Called a completely different dealer, not sure if he had done the job himself but really seemed to know what he was talking about.

With the kit I have installed I need to run a hot and a ground from the engine compartment, nothing under the dash has enough power to run the 30 amps for the brakes. If the instructions had said that, all would be cool. The blue wire does hook to the controller. Then all I need is the white/tan wire for triggering the brakes.

I know this is all pretty much standard hook up for a truck without tow package, but I thought having bought the kit it'd be a bit more complete. $155 for an incomplete harness! To anyone doing this, I hope the above helps.

And yes I have a external cooler on the truck.

Your dead on, that's what we had to do with my 04. I got the harness from a stealer, had a mechanic with the same stealer help me after I did the taillight hookups, and placed the plug where I wanted it. Install the wires and, voilĂ  you'll have trailer brakes.

Did you get one of the newer digital brake controllers?

I had a Tekonsha Voyager? it's a great little unit. Glad it's all done, I hated boring a hole in the firewall but it came out great. I installed a 30 amp resettable fuse and hooked it all up last night and everything worked. Not as simple as with a tow package installed but it all works right. Thanks for everyone's input. Can't wait to hook up behind the Hemi!!

Oh yea forgot to mention I have one of Hoppy's plugs that has the 4 and the 7 connection? SWEEEET

Good to hear. Happy Towing!
