I just hit about 650 miles on my DDHC, and I wanted to formalize a few of the bad things I've noticed thus far. I'm not sure if they're all "issues", but maybe other owners can shed some light on or independently verify them.

1. Driver side catalytic converter squeals badly when cold (new cat on order from the dealership with no ETA)

2. Front parking sensors seem extremely inaccurate compared to my 2019 DDSRT:
  • Even when about one foot from an object, I only get the middle yellow proximity alert
  • Also the red proximity alert will randomly trip when stopped in traffic without an obstacle in front
3. Uconnect being Uconnect. I've had to hard restart it about ten times at this point. I love the interface but I'm disappointed with how buggy it is.

4. Strange howling sound from the engine between 1,500-3,200 RPMs. No, not the supercharger whine, but more of a dull moaning sound.
  • Only does it once the truck is at operating temp
  • Not driveline noise and not speed-dependent. I've heard it in D, N, and P, even when coasting down the road and revving to that RPM interval
5. Loud grinding/growling sound from the exhaust at 3/4 throttle and WOT. Almost sounds like TV static but from the back of the truck
  • I've only heard it about four times but it's disconcerting
  • While accelerating, the sound comes and goes until I let off the throttle
I know this seems like a laundry list of complaints, but overall I'm very happy with the truck. However I am a bit frustrated that I've had this many issues so soon into ownership of an almost $100,000 vehicle, but I'm hoping Dodge will correct these for me.

I have about 600 miles on ours as well. The only issue is one you have and I think I’ve read about it before.

The red proximity alert will randomly trip when stopped in traffic without an obstacle in front.

It’s very random but annoying so it’s disabled for now until it goes back for the first oil Change.

are you guys keeping the sensors clean?
Yep, I've wiped the sensors perfectly clean a few times and did the trusty ol' turn on/off. Still the same thing.

I've experienced these two issues, as well. My radio/media is slow to respond at times when switching channels or using a BT source. Also, the ability to rewind music when switching to a preset satellite radio station comes and goes. One day it's there, the next day it's gone. How did you hard reset the system?

During the first week of driving I noticed a noise coming from under the truck while coasting. Sounded like a mix between a chain being dragged and a swarm of birds chirping underneath...lol It would go away when the brakes were applied and now is gone completely. Not sure what could have caused that.

I am in the “electronic bugs” category.
Sometimes I can switch driving modes- other times it is not available at all- nor is the Performance Pages or Race options.
Dealership appointment one week from today.

You can hard reset your UConnect by holding down the power button which is the center of the volume knob on the dash. Hold that down for 10 seconds or so and that should give you a hard reset.

I will try that. I wish there was a way to reset the SRT hard key. That’s what seems to be the central issue.

My SRT head unit froze up continually. Dealer ordered new head unit but I’ve since locked down a Durango Hellcat and it’s est ship date is May 21. We shall see, but learning the hard reset on the radio is vital fir road trips.

seen this in a 1500 a lot too, are they ultrasonic? even wind can effect them.

I only see this on the steering configuration for custom setting (what i found, has to be straight when activating the custom mode, maybe since i have it set for track)

Not sure if it's because I'm more aware [frustrated] of the Uconnect issues, but I feel like they're becoming more frequent. My iPhone randomly disconnected three times on a 30 minute drive yesterday, one time requiring me to hard reset while driving.

Those with Uconnect issues. More specifically related to radio, mp3, iphone, Android, bluetooth. Turn the radio off and listen to the engine!

There, problem solved!

You guys probably walk around mindlessly with earphones stuck in your earholes.

My uconnect issues. When connected via bluethooth and music on an iphone X, after 30+ minutes the system will lock up and reboot. (carplay wireless or plug in, no issues). The weather/traffic works 10% of the time.

I do get a thump noise of something hitting when going over a speed bump (entrance to my community) on the rebound. (unless i go very very slow, it is highly pitched though)

I do have the TPMS issue on front right wheel but only driving by a certain area/building (happened 3 times). FWIW, discount tire and such can check your tpms for free.

About 2k miles so far.

Not sure if you're trolling or just extremely out of touch and ignorant.

Damn those would frustrate me to no end. I feel like those of us whose Hellcats were built first got a double-edged sword; early delivery but plagued with issues.

uconnect knows about the issues and a case number so not much I can do there until they issue an update (not like i use bluetooth and music a lot, i happened to notice on a fluke and replicated it a few times). As for the thump, nothing is loose or what I can see. figured, i'll see where things are at around 6 months or 4-5k miles and take it in with whatever else needs to be addressed. But not frustrated, too fun to drive. :p Driving my truck this week and I miss hellcat.

Uconnect seems to be the single most vexing problem area in the entire Dodge line-up. You would think FCA would wield a HUGE hammer over them, but that does not seem to be the case (or they simply don't care).

My '16 Hellcat seemed pretty stable, tho there was a frustrating lack of features. Then they sent out a 'update' to fix some minor issues & broke parts of the Performance Pages in the process. Dispite a barrage of complaints, the broken stuff was never fixed (and they are simple things like the SC IAT & Coolant readings being switched, code that could be corrected in a few seconds).

All of the '18's (across the entire line-up) were delivered with an issue where the GPS & Sirius were not talking to each other & you got weather alrets for stuff that didn't matter (lake wind alerts) or conditions hundreds of miles away. The constant barrage of alerts was distracting (and dangerous IMO) while driving. It took me weeks, but I finally got them to kill off the trail subscription to everything just to shut the stupid thing up. Took them about 6 months to fix that !!

Just for my info. are these Uconnect problems limited to early production DDHC's and/or all Durango's regardless of trim level?
