Does the sound of the Corsa change?

So I installed the Corsa yesterday and the wife absolutely hates it and doesn't like the D anymore. I have to admit I am kinda with her. It is much louder inside than they advertise and than others made it sound like. Yes it does sound good from outside but the low RPM frequency it emits in the cabin is very annoying. It is like deep yet kind of high pitched drone sound when lightly taking off from a stop. Everything is tight and nothing is rattling it is strictly the actual exhaust. The only time it is quiet in the cabin like they claimed is when off the throttle coasting. I had a pieced together Magnaflow on my LS2 Trailblazer SS with no cats, and LT Headers and it wasn't as loud in cabin as this. Can anybody give me any reassuring info? If this is how the Corsa is going to sound then I will be having a brand new Corsa w/ the black tips for sale and I will just have black tips welded onto the stock mufflers. Really disappointed :(:(:(:(

Hello Everyone, I just installed Corsa on my 15' RT and I am really hating this droning! Inside the cabin it is so loud at times it really sucks. Very Disappointed as the other person stated. I am experiencing all the same sounds. When in eco mode most of the droning happens. when cruising i sometimes have to tap the gas pedal to get out of the droning. Ahh very frustrating especially after spending $1330 on an exhaust.

My Corsa Exhaust and LMI Intake were installed this past Monday (11/23). I did put roughly 500 miles on it in two days after it was installed. I think it sounds great and the drone is very minimal--especially while using cruise control on the expressway. I honestly think that some people have false ideas of what their vehicle should sound like after they install a PERFORMANCE exhaust on their Durango. Your installing a performance exhaust--which is going to make the vehicle louder. I can also tell you that Corsa is known for having very minimal drone with their exhaust systems--the vehicle sounds good when you start it up, sounds good while accelerating and it sounds good when it is at cruising speed. If you think that the Corsa has a loud drone--you should put a MagnaFlow, Gibson or Flowmaster on your Durango to see what exhaust drone really is. This is my 6th vehicle with a performance exhaust & my 5th with a Corsa Sport ('00 Silverado with Gibson, '04 Silverado with Corsa Sport, '05 Silverado with Corsa Sport, '07 Suburban with Corsa Sport & '11 Silverado with Corsa Sport). The people complaining should have just kept the factory exhaust on their Durango--your expectations are unrealistic.

Steve is right. Check and see if there is any adjustment that can be made. After mine was installed it just looked like it hung to low so I adjusted the clamps behind the mufflers and the and the section behind it and got a better looking fit. After that the exhaust note changed a little and was a lot smoother inside and out. And yes Over time the sound is much better.
Before adjustment and after

In the instructions they give specifics on the way clamps need to be set on pipes and if they are wrong it makes more noise

anyone have install pics of black tip and polished tip on a granite RT ?

im really trying to decide which to go for. i have the black out package and removed the DODGE letters so no chrome present on the current back end. Wonder if the polished tips would look out of place, or look better than muted black ?

any hp gains with this corsa mod ? or is this strictly sound ?

As with all Bolt on Mods they help a little but unless you use a tuner to allow the PCM to work 100% with its added benefits.

Not unless you swap in a PCM from a 2014

Buy the Diablo with the 14 PCM then put your stock PCM back in for dealer visits

Diablosport website doesn't have an option for PCM purchase on the 2015 Durangos. They have everything else (challengers, chargers, 300 all the way up to the 2016s) Do I need to buy the PCM elsewhere?

Got the Corsa exhaust today and put it on this evening. Not much louder than stock and very little drone at 1000-1500 rpm with Eco on at 25-35mph but it is quieter than the radio. Going down the interstate at 65-75mph it sounds just like stock. I have only driven it about 20 miles but very happy with it so far.

Now what the heck to do with that monstrosity I took off.....

BINGO ^^ Best to buy it from them as you can get a custom tuning pkg with it as well

I have them posted in my intro thread... It's like a black chrome. Very clean looking and the Corsa logo looks awesome. Hopefully the logo won't discolor.

I also have the black top edition - black grille, rear view mirrors and black wheels. Black tips seems to complete the package. I think I'm going to paint the brake calipers black as well... (maybe red).

No tune on mine, and I don't plan on it since it's my wife's daily driver. I may add a tune down the road if the vehicle proves to be reliable (mechanically).

ok I wish they would make a can tune for 2015. I guess I will hold off on Corsa. Prob should of held off on CAI as well. I really love the way the stock system sounds. I cant see much gain happening without a tune in conjunction. Hopefully in 2016 they will make a tune for 2015s ...

so i spoke with a tuner shop here in atlanta (injected performance).

he said for the 2015 what he does is sends out the PCM for modification that allows them to access the code and alter the spark timing. He can tune it for 93 octane and that is usually good for about +15hp. Cost of that is $1,000 and its unlikely dodge would ever know it was done since its same PCM. However, if they did somehow find out the PCM was altered and the vehicle was in for some major engine work such as burned rings, then it would most definitely void the factory warranty. His take on it was Dodge would never likely know, so nothing to worry about. HE also said they tighten up/alter the trans shift points so it shifts faster, which makes the car much more fun to drive.

We spoke about the Corsa and he confirmed it was a great mod even without the tune, as is the CAI. The tune would help even more though with Corsa and CAI, he was guessing +30 hp (tune, CAI, Corsa) and about the same gain in torque over stock with these mods. He quoted about $3200 with tune and Corsa (black tips) installed. 4-5 days.

30 hp is pretty substantial, I may go for this... or buy/install Corsa myself and have Injected do the tune. I suppose I can get a Corsa black tip for about $1400 and install myself in a 1/2 day or so. That would save me $800.

Dodge could look at the checksums on stock vs what your PCM has, and if they don't match they'll know something has been altered. I'm not 100% positive that they have it set up like that, but with them being hell bent on us not touching the code it ain't hard to imagine it is like that.

If they are going to charge a $1000 to do the tune and mode to the PCM, you can get the Diablo with a modified PCM for $1000 and then you have your stock PCM to put in if and when you go to the dealer for sevice. It only takes about 20 minutes to swap out. Also, with the Diablo you will have options where you can switch it back to stock if you do not want to run the 93 octane. I feel that $1000 for 20hp on a daily driver that you have to mess with the PCM is a little much.

From their website. This is for the ram, but don't see it being much different.

We know how to make power on the late model Ram, and using our inTune i2 or Trinity performance programmers are a sure fire way to boost your truck’s performance. Our performance tunes made 33 HP and 28 TQ over stock on a 2015 5.7L 8 Speed Ram Truck running 93 octane gasoline, but we did not stop with just making power! Our tuning department modified the program on the Ram to enhance throttle response, revamp transmission shifting, and added tons of user adjustable performance options. With a DiabloSport programmer and modified PCM, you can calibrate the speedometer for larger tires and gears, adjust idle RPM, dial in your throttle response with “throttle booster technology”, and you can even modify performance parameters like timing/fueling/idle and more!

its not the shift points, its the traction control or something to that effect. it tightens up the shifts, makes them faster. This is done thru reprogramming pcm and apparently makes a huge difference even without increasing hp. diablo doesnt offer this, at least from what im reading on their site.

its a moot point anyways you cant use diablo on a 2015. you would need to swap pcm to a 2014, but then run into issues such as your stock pcm showing different mileage than the cluster. this would void the powertrain warranty.

prob best to wait for someone to figure out how to unlock the 2015 pcm without evidence so you can load tunes and reset back to factory without Dodge knowing to save your warranty. ive got like 2k miles on this truck and another $48K to pay off I prob shouldnt dick with the powertrain warranty by swapping in a 2014 pcm
