Does the sound of the Corsa change?

So I installed the Corsa yesterday and the wife absolutely hates it and doesn't like the D anymore. I have to admit I am kinda with her. It is much louder inside than they advertise and than others made it sound like. Yes it does sound good from outside but the low RPM frequency it emits in the cabin is very annoying. It is like deep yet kind of high pitched drone sound when lightly taking off from a stop. Everything is tight and nothing is rattling it is strictly the actual exhaust. The only time it is quiet in the cabin like they claimed is when off the throttle coasting. I had a pieced together Magnaflow on my LS2 Trailblazer SS with no cats, and LT Headers and it wasn't as loud in cabin as this. Can anybody give me any reassuring info? If this is how the Corsa is going to sound then I will be having a brand new Corsa w/ the black tips for sale and I will just have black tips welded onto the stock mufflers. Really disappointed :(:(:(:(

Local shop quoted me between 5-7 for x-pipe, mufflers etc. Like many, my wife is on board for upgrading to a proper growl but has no idea what a good cat back goes for. Corsa's black tip system sold me on sound/looks/quality/performance and I may go that route but I could spend half that on a custom setup and have leftovers for a volant and dcx!

on the 15 you will need to install the 2014 PCM and then you can tune with a diablo

What's interesting is that the 2015 Durango is still not officially supported on Diablo's site. You'd think the process would be the same as the Ram, Challenger, and Charger. I'm not sure if anyone has reached out to them to ask specifically about the Durango or if there is a 2015 Durango out there with a 2014 PCM.

Just an update. Some of the sound I originally complained about is still there, but barely and we are used to it now. It does help having eco mode off. We are only getting about 1 mpg less with the eco off so it really makes no difference. We just came back from a mini vacay down the beach and it was a very pleasant drive. The Corsa has such an amazing sound when you open it up but is so quiet when you are just cruising along. We had friends stay at our house with us and they all loved the D and the Corsa. We did all the driving the whole time (3 rows are awesome). Soo it took some time but overall now I am very happy with my Corsa purchase and am glad we stuck it out.

So my first attempt at an exhaust mod that fits my wife's approved budget failed. They replaced the tips and deleted the suitcase and while at idle and mild throttle it sounds great there is a horrible rattle when I punch it. Going back to add mufflers inline. Kinda wishing I told her to suck it up and do what I wanted in the first place.

Sorry to hear hopefully the mufflers really get it where ya want it

It sounds great under mild acceleration, thinking that some magnaflows will hook me up. I can always go corsa after the Holidays if I am still not 100% happy.

So I took it back to the shop and they added some shorty turbo tubes and all is well in the world. This is not a huge change at idle but deeper tone during acceleration and it did eliminate the rasp and so far no Hemi fart or drone. When I get on it heads turn so for now I will enjoy. Cost me more than it should have due to taking 2 trips to the shop. Should give me a couple of ponies but nothing measurable. My butt dyno says its faster.

If you are looking for a strictly sound change and are on a budget I would go Gibson. I have had a few people tell me the Corsa was louder than they wanted and my wife was very clear on how she felt about dumping $1300+ into the exhaust so for a $350 out the door mod this will work for now. I will try to get a sound clip later but it is raining right now.

I also have enough left over for the BlackOps strut brace!!!!!!

Sounds good. Personally I love the Hemi fart when I am using the paddle shifters. I think it sounds badass when you get the RPM's high and stretch those gears out. With the Corsa though its more of a Hemi roar than a fart.

I may not have pushed it far enough to get the fart but so far I can live with this for a few months then I can decide if I want to pull the trigger on something else.

Sounds good. It's real deep. Are the mufflers fiberglass packed? Why the flat black hitch cover?

#80 ·
Not glasspacks, They are called Turbo Tube mufflers. A couple of baffles to calm it a bit. That is the cover that the dealer supplied when they added the hitch. Need to order a smooth one and have it paint matched. Think I will order that now.

Good. Glasspacks always sound good in the beginning and then slowly fade to shit. Just being nosey about the cover lol. Now you saved the money though to get the right one

So I got rearended last week by an UNINSURED woman driving a 95 Accord. As you can see, it took out my right rear resonator, tip, and pipe to the suitcase. I CANNOT afford the Corsa right now. I had planned on getting the Dynomax kit from Summit, but just read a not so favorable review about it. I like what you have done here rrhodes. My question is, you put an x-pipe in place of the suitcase, turbo tubes after the x-pipe, and left the stock resonators, but changed the tips? I have about $600-$800 to work with so Corsa is out of the question. I was thinking of doing an x-pipe and a Gibson "Axle Back" to replace my resonators, but I totally fear the "drone". anybody with thoughts on this? I am somwhat on a time frame to get the parts.

No X pipe, they went straight with turbo tubes and new tips while leaving the stock resos in the rear.

Sparks, I have the Gibson and love it. It's a bit droney when you first fire up the motor when it's been sitting for a while and cold... But inside it's still very quiet, a bit louder than stock but once you turn the radio on you don't hear it anymore. Once everything is warmed up it sounds very good, I've gotten complimented on it. And they're not obnoxiously loud on the outside either, it was perfect for what I wanted. A bit of bite that said "Yeah it's a HEMI!!" Without yelling "LLLOOOKKKKK I GOTTTTTT A HEMMMMIIIIIII!!!!!" Like I think straight pipes would sound. I was also afraid of the drone lol... But it doesn't. Rumbles a bit at idle, in the midrange it just has this epic tone that I love. Honestly I friggin love my Gibson.

I bought mine in stainless steel for 400 and installed it myself. Here in NWI they salt the roads and I am never doing my own exhaust again unless I have a lift. You might be able to get an x pipe, the kit, and have someone install it for $800... An x pipe might make it louder and with more drone though, I kept my suitcase. There's a good video on YouTube that a user here uploaded that shows the difference between stock and Gibson with suitcase. Too bad you can't go after the lady who hit you and make her pay...

I have a Dynomax X-pipe with Gibson axle back, and if you don't like drone don't go this route! My Dad is a mechanic as and has always had loud exhaust on his hot rods, so I love it. The drone does not bother me, it's a very deep tone until WOT then you can be heard from a mile away. I absolutely love the way it sounds but not for everyone.

I the long run i may go Corsa and now that I already have an upgraded exhaust that was wife approved i will survive it. For now i am very happy with my results.
