Edit: I've removed some misc stuff I had here. I will be adding information regarding adding the tow package to a 2014 Durango as I get ready to order the parts and ultimately do the install myself. I've been doing lots of MOPAR searches trying to make this as painless as possible on myself and be certain I'm getting everything needed to install the hitch in one shot.

I can confirm the following items that are listed in the tow package are included standard on a 2014 Durango with the 5.7L HEMI V8:
•220-Amp Alternator
•Full Size Spare Tire
•Heavy Duty Engine Cooling
•Steel Spare Wheel

I'm uncertain about the suspension, but believe it is:
•Rear Load Leveling Suspension

That leaves the only things that are definitely not included (unsurprisingly, the hitch and an accessory harness):
•7 and 4 Pin Wiring Harness
•Class IV Receiver Hitch

Need to add the tow hitch to your vehicle? Here are the parts necessary (may be incomplete - will update as needed):
The hitch (Part # 52124606AF, MSRP $209): http://www.mopar.com/part/52124606AF?s=363651&i=4538001

The wiring kit (Part # 68088278AB, MSRP $29.25): http://www.mopar.com/part/68088278AB?s=363656&i=4611932&b=dodge

The hitch cover (Part # 05113692AA, MSRP $58.70): http://www.mopar.com/part/05113692AA?s=363651&i=4606994&b=dodge

Optionally, the 7 to 4 pin wiring harness (Part # 56019823, MSRP $18.85): http://www.mopar.com/part/56019823?s=363651&i=274742&b=dodge
Note: You'll almost certainly need a 7 to 4 pin harness, but you can opt for a cheaper one from Harbor Freight or pretty much any auto accessory source.

My original post (thankfully I wasn't completely hosed): I could've swore I had the tow package when I bought this weekend, but popped off the cover and nothing. I'm sure I made a bad assumption after seeing the cover and assumed it was there. I'll need to check the sticker later. That said, assuming I made a big mistake, does anyone have a list of everything included in the tow package? Curious if it would be possible to order the parts, but guessing I might be hosed. Really pissed I overlooked this...

56019823 adapts a 7-pin socket on the vehicle to a 4-pin trailer.

When talking about trailer wiring, vehicle year is important. The wiring changed for MY2014.

does anyone have the part number for the bumper fascia for the 2011-2013 model years? the part you install AFTER making the cutout in the factory bumper

2014 SXT > I just purchased the 82214135 Hitch and the 82213986AB Complete wiring harness from quickparts.com (Did from E-Bay)

They arrived in 2 days and everything was perfect. All hardware and instructions (including the new "bulged" hitch hole cover) was included.

I will be installing as soon as the weather allows. I will then get the towing feature flashed by my Dealer if I have no power to the connectors.

Thanks everyone!

Hi, I read this entire thread and still have some questions. I have a 2015 DD SXT V6. My wife and I want to purchase a travel trailer (5800 pounds) but my Durango does not have the tow package.

Manual states that towing is limited to 3500 pounds for V6 vehicles without the towing package, BUT if I add a dealer-installed hitch/towing package, will that get me to the 6200 pound threshold? Or does it just get me to 3500 pounds? Or, if we really want this travel trailer, am I going to have to get another Durango with the towing package?

Thanks!

3500lbs max legally, you don't have hvy duty cooling or bigger brakes

If I traded it in and got a R/T without the towing package, would that be better? Obviously it would be better if it had the towing package but from extensive searching in my area, it has been difficult to find a R/T with the towing package installed - closest one I found is over 100 miles away. From what I've read it sounds like the R/T might come with those features?

Yes, R/T has the HD cooling, ect. Just needs the hitch and harness installed...and a reflash by the dealer to turn the wiring harness on.

If you are towing a 1,500 lb. utility trailer with a lawnmower on it, really the tow package doesn't matter. If you are REALLY towing, you want the tow package. You are planning to pull a travel trailer that will max out loaded around 6,000 lbs., and I'd assume plan to tow some distance. For that, you want the heavy duty cooling, etc. that comes in the tow package. Buying a vehicle without the tow package and planning to pull that kind of weight is simply a mistake IMO. As for finding a vehicle, just expand your search radius a bit, I went 200 miles to find the features and deal that I wanted.

According to the build and spec section on the Dodge web site. Adding the trailer tow package to an R/T model ( AWD ) includes the addition of H/D cooling, among the other items, full size spare and wheel, wiring harness, load leveling suspension and the receiver hitch.
If the package states it adds H/D cooling, wouldn't that means it is different then the standard cooling system on an R/T model ?
This is direct from the Dodge web site.
Trailer Tow Group IV
.7-and 4-Pin Wiring Harness
.Class IV Receiver Hitch
.Full Size Spare Tire
.Steel Spare Wheel
.Heavy Duty Engine Cooling
The heavy-duty engine cooling system is designed to vent excess heat generated by heavy engine use.
.Rear Load Leveling Suspension

Yeah, unless they changed from 2014-2015 models..its just bait and switch.
The Hemi has HD cooling standard..so you are paying for the Hitch/harness/full-size spare.
With AWD it might not have the load leveling, but every 2wd vehicle I checked had that too...standard.
Build sheet will tell the truth.
Maybe Dodge got tired of Dealer's not ordering with towing package and just adding the hitch/harness and want back a piece of the action.
