Good news & bad news. The Borla is on. Easy enough install in the carport job.
I like loud. Had flowmaster 40's on a 5.0 Mustang. Magnaflow on the 2003 D. MOPAR on the 2005 D.
But WOW!! This is one VERY loud and aggressive system. Funny enough, inside is very quiet and no drone when cruising around. Talk, used the phone, no issues but go WOT and everybody for two blocks turns and looks, including the constabulary. In Borla terminology I would say it is an ATAK model on steroids! I have to see if Borla can supply the 54608 front muffler assy. that they advertised & I purchased but they deleted from the system or it will have to go. :(

I'm sorry to hear about your experiences with Borla system, but this is what I feared. The Borla system (sans resonators) appears to be over-the-top loud. Please keep us posted if Borla is able to help you out.

FSTDANGO3, what are your impressions of the Magnaflow catback? Do you notice any drone? I'm looking for a system that is similar to the Borla S-type on my Mustang: noticeable rumble at idle, silent at cruise, and loud (but not obnoxious) at WOT... with no drone. In other words, a sporty exhaust that is good for a daily driver. The challenge is the MDS, which is not present on the Mustang. Would you be kind enough to put up some exhaust videos of your Durango?

ENJOY (I know i DO !!!!)

= engine rev in "P" (windows open)

= engine rev in "P" (windows closed)

= short ride trans in auto "D"

= short ride 2 trans in auto "D"

= startup (video few wks old, sounds even better/cleaner now after tune and some break in)

= older video

= manual shifts thru 1st, 2nd, 3rd gear

= older video - starts with windows up/closed, then with windows open

its very loud when you get on it especially with windows open
my family and I all went to breakfast windows up or cracked, nice relaxing ride, never once knew i had a non-OE exhaust
even had a hands free call along the way

later when i drove by myself, windows open, open road, i enjoyed the crap out of the sound and making people a block+ away turn around just like old bear said

my opinion is its not too much unless you want it to be, but if you still want less aggressive / less violent / less loud even at WOT then its not for you

Sounds Good
my younger daughter is the only one that has said anything about the exhaust.

Corsa

Old Bear, if Borla is not able to provide you resonators, there may be another option.

Although Corsa has been promising an exhaust for the last two years, we may finally get one. This is a direct quote from Corsa's Facebook page written two days ago:

Corsa Performance Exhausts: Just building a few C7 Exhaust Systems - Can't walk by a welder without seeing one!

Mark Ciorra: You could walk by a welder and see them not building an exhaust for a 3rd gen Durango. I feel your pain there David LaLonde

Corsa Performance Exhausts: sure about that? Almost ready to release. Other than the C7, the Durango has been the most requested system this year.

Steve- any chance u could post a couple sound clips of the magnaflow ? Borla might be too loud for my tastes...

Thanks - Kevin

I did notice a little drone today at 80 mph when we went out to store before not unbearable but definitely there a little radio and all is well

Old Bear,

How did things ultimately work out with your Borla exhaust?

Not well . Borla have acknowledged that they advertised one product and sold me something different. They offered to send me the deleted front muffler pack. Then it took them three weeks to figure out they had thrown away the jig and could no longer produce one. Then they offered to send me parts so I could make my own but that really isn't an option here for several reasons. Last they have offered a full refund which I have accepted. We will see if that happens? There is a big shipping bill involved.
It is a shame. Quality is first class. No drone. Idle is aggressive but I like it. It is just the WOT. Way over the top although the guys who are waiting for the Corsa may like it, it can't get any louder but it won't meet local inspection rules & risks a 30 day impound here. If they had only accurately marketed the system.

So if they pay me back as they have offered a Magnaflow will go on. Sounds good but not wild. :p

The Borla will get thrown on a sand dune unless they want to pay for the shipping back.

That's terrible. It also shows a lack of internal communication within Borla, particularly since it took three weeks to figure out they could no longer produce a front muffler.

I've been a big Borla fan. I went through four different exhausts on my 2012 Mustang GT (stock, GT500, Flowmaster Force II and Borla S-type). The Borla S-type was by far the best, and still gives me a smile every time I drive my Mustang. It has absolutely no drone, and is quieter than stock at cruise, but sounds very sporty at idle and WOT. It's a beautifully made exhaust, that oozes high quality construction.

Thus, I emailed Borla with some questions about the Durango exhaust. It took them one week to respond. I had further questions about the modifications they made to their Durango exhaust. The next three emails I submitted over a two month period were all unanswered. I'm not sure why such a respected exhaust maker is having such issues with communication.

One of my friends who owns a custom exhaust shop speaks very highly of Magnaflow. My only issues with Magnaflow are the lower grade stainless steel, and drone. Although the drone is minimal, I find drone a complete buzz kill.

For the Hemi engines, I'm increasingly of the opinion that Corsa is the way to go. I can't stand drone. Borla and Corsa seem to have really nailed ways to remove drone in their exhaust systems.

thanks for the informative thread! i decided to cancel my borla order. I can't risk waking the neighborhood at 7am when i head off to work.

It's not that bad. Yes, it's loud on initial startup in the garage and when you whomp on it. But when it's idle or cruising, it's nice.
have to give it some though hah, i'd like a little more noise! i'm afraid it'll generate TOO much noise when i get the supercharger on it.

To finish the story. David Borla was true to his word. Borla bought back the system on the truck, paid for shipping, installation everything. There only request was I crush it and send pictures, which I did. The Manaflow went on. A lot quieter than the Borla but has a nice sound at WOT. However, it has a terrible idle drone. High idle is ok but when it drops to low idle there is a very noticeable low frequency drone. I'll wait until I get the Hemifever tune done and see how it sounds all round. Maybe looking at a Corsa next if the idle is close to liveable and there is zero drone.
