Anyone purchase Maximum Care (MOPAR Vehicle Protection) for new vehicles?

I purchased the Maximum Car lifetime protection when I bought the Durango 3 weeks ago, but have not received anything regarding coverage in the mail yet. When I went to their site it says there is no record of coverage for my vehicle. Shouldn't three weeks be enough time for the paperwork to have caught up? I just want to make sure I got what I paid for....

Anybody pick up this coverage for their new Durango? And if so, did you get a card or notification in the mail confirming your coverage?

Thanks!

Thanks! Mine isn't showing up. I guess I should call the dealer.

Magically showed up.

Note to all: the Lifetime warranty isn't a Lifetime warranty. Mine expires in 2099.

I had intended to, but the dealer I purchased from offers lifetime Powertrain warranty for free for the original owner. Didn't seem worth while to pay for the mopar warranty on top of it. the dealer warranty is free and no deductible, just have to do all the maintenance on schedule in the owners manual. Obviously this doesn't cover things like the ac etc, but I doubt ill have 2000 in repairs not counting deductibles before I replace it.q

Sorry for jumping in on this topic a little late, but picking up a 2014 R/T next week and I want to buy the extended warranty. Are these worth the money, is there anything in the fine print that would void this or make a repair not covered? I guess I'm just concerned after reading about them that if you don't have your ride dealer serviced, or something else that's hidden in the warranty somewhere, you could have issues down the road. To me a little over 2 grand seems like a great deal to cover the Durango for as long as you own it. I was just curious if there were any cons to these, or anything I might be missing prior to purchasing? I'd love to hear your thoughts. Thanks.

the "big catch" I think is that the Mopar folks knows statistically most people that buy the plan get tired of the vehicle and get rid of it well before they wind up spending 2k in non-wear repairs. I can assure you they aren't losing money on the deal as a whole. :D

Also- one POTENTIAL thing to watch for- something to be sure to read the fine print. I have a '07 pacifica. It's one of those right before the bankruptcy so they were handing out lifetime power train warranties. With lifetime power train that's enough for me to keep it for a good long time. One CATCH with that is you MUST get the vehicle inspected by a dealer every 5 years +/- 60 days or they void the lifetime. If you google they're are people that missed the 60 day window and so Chrysler told them go scratch. They mailed me a card around the time- it didn't have too many specifics and i thought at the time- 'how pissed would i be if i moved and didn't get the card...'. I'm sure it's in the war and peace version of the warranty paperwork but honestly i never read it to see myself. I just googled when i got the card.

I have NO IDEA if the protection plan has anything similar- but something to be sure to read about to be sure.

Anyone know one way or the other if you have to get periodic inspections?

After heavily modifying my Cummins Ram the Durango is going to stay stock for its life. It's the wife's, so it's going to get babied. If your going to keep it very close to stock and you plan to keep for awhile I think it's a great deal

Just curious, for those of you that purchased the lifetime warranty via the dealer at the time of purchase, how much negotiating did you have to do? It sounds like a lot of you bought the lifetime warranty with the $100 deductible for around $2100-2200. Is this the same as the MOPAR Vehicle Protection Plan?

I've been emailing an Internet Sales guy talking price. He threw some numbers at me just as an example for interest rate, price, payments, etc and he threw out $4000 for the lifetime warranty!

If I call the 800# for the Mopar plan, do you think they will give me a quote on something I haven't purchased yet if I give them a VIN? I figure at least that way, if the finance guy tries to pull a fast one and throws the same $4000 number at me as the sales guy, I can just tell I can get it for $xxxx.

$2100 don't pay more than $2400 there are those on this thread that paid as little as $1500 I think. Besides in 10 years from now if the HEMI throws a bearing or worse a rod or the AWD goes out than that extra $2400 aint gunna seem like so much especially when all you have to plop down at the desk is $100 and you get a brand new motor for another 300k miles :) worth every penny. Even more so it covers all the electronics which is $2400 by itself to replace.

I just called the 800 number to ask about buying a MOPAR max care plan with $100 deductible and i was quoted $3415. Not really sure why my quote is so much higher than everyone else's but im not very happy about it.

when you call "the 800" number or ask for info on "the website" they are just going to give you the list price. You can't really expect them to haggle like a dealer- they would be hosing their dealer network if everyone could just call them direct and pay ~half the MSRP. They have to charge list price to give the dealers a chance to make money on the "uneducated consumers"

the other sources listed in this thread will wheel and deal and give you a much better price then the MSRP.

good luck

I think that if you call one of the dealerships mentioned in this thread, you can get a much better deal as they make it a business to be a volume sales channel. Last week, when I bought my R/T the dealer quoted me $2,700 for the lifetime protection and was not interested in the least in competing with the lower cost alternatives when I brought it up. Personally, I am going to wait until shortly before my 12 months/12,000 miles is up before I make a decision to buy. If it cost the same in a about a year, why pay now?

Where did you go for your online quote?

Shelbyguy, is that a specific term outlined in the contract? I didn't see it on one of the websites that showed the contract. If it is not in the contract, I don't think they can do that.

CSun22, I'd appreciate a follow up on this thread with the quote that you get. Thanks!
I will absolutely give an update when I get a quote from Clay. Anything has to be better than the $4000 the salesman told me or the $3415 the 800# quoted me.

#100 ·
Clay replied to my email this morning (even though he is off this weekend) and quoted $2115 for the Mopar Lifetime Warranty. I'll be speaking to Clay about the purchasing the warranty when its time unless the dealer wants to match the price.

#103 ·
sure money is money- but my point was dont let the dealer off with "matching" the price or giving you $5 better. make the dealer earn it or give Clay the business- just my humble opinion.

I just hate when the dealers try to rip people off then you confront them with a fair price from a decent guy (like Clay sounds like) they all of a sudden want to match it. If they weren't going to give me a fair price in the first place I'd rather go with the decent guy.

(for the record i dont know the guy, never bought anything from him, and have no skin in the game)

good luck

#104 ·
Of course. If its a matter of the dealer just matching the price im not going to take it but i am going to give them a chance to beat it. If they cant beat it, clay will earn my business and i wont even ask him if he can do any better

Just out of curiosity, for those of you that went with the lifetime plan did you pay it all up front or go with a payment plan?

What happens after you purchase the plan? Do you get paperwork mailed to you and/or are you able to see your plan online?

Thanks

I just wanted to warn folks this warranty is not a "bumper to bumper" type warranty, my salesman told me that it was, but I had my doubts and read the actual contract.
It only covers the specific components listed in the warranty, and while there are a lot parts listed there are many that are not listed and thus not covered.
As far as I can tell these components or problems would not be covered:
Adaptive cruise control.
Blind spot monitor.
Navigation system.
Door latches.
A water leak.
Please post if you see that any of these are covered, I couldn't find them.

To add to this, exhaust is not covered (I don't remember what parts exactly is specifies, I would imagine manifolds are covered just not anything after that). Not that this applies to us, but clutch parts aren't covered (which is probably obvious as to why).
