My D seems like it takes forever to warm up enough to produce some real heat. I bought it back in April and it just started getting cold here in NJ in the last week or so. The other day, I had to start her up 15 minutes before I drove my son to preschool just so we'd have heat in it. Today with the snow, I ran some errands around town for about an hour before I felt any heat. IS THIS NORMAL for a Durango?

Sounds like your heater core is either plugged or your blend door isn't operating properly. Do you feel any heat at all out of the vents when your engine temp gauge reads 200+?

Wouldn't it throw a code for a slow warm up with a bad stat? I'm leaning more toward heater core/blend door problems.

Early D's were prone to a slipping blend cable, don't know what year yours is?

I seem to recall a few instances here of low heater output due to a bad t-stat without a code; though one would expect a code to pop.

Check the engine temp gauge. I think my thermostat is stuck open, but I still have heat. If the temps are fine and still no heat, check the blend door and then the heater core. My guess is the crappy blend door is the culprit. Mine seems to be hung up in the other direction. If it's warmer than 55° out, I have to run the A/C to keep cool.

Could also be low on coolant. When my water pump started to leak the first thing I noticed was little or no heat but, when I topped off the coolant, I got the heat back and had to watch it till I got my replacement pump. So start off with the easy thing and check the coolant. If it's low, then check for leaks.
