A/C works perfectly in the Morning and Evening, but basically doesn’t work once the cabin gets hot from the sun. Checked Freon level with new canister with a pressure gauge and it shows that it’s in the green which means fully charged. There is a hissing noise in the dash that is heard when fan is on low only. Will blow ice cubes in the morning or at night, so I know there is no it is working. Drove it for about 30 miles and it finally started cooling the cabin. But it almost acts like there’s a Temp sensor that is not working properly when the sun is out!

Hi Dean:
Welcome to DDN. I would not trust that gauge to tell you that the system is full. You might have a temp sensor issue, but you should be able to bypass that in the manual mode. Low refrigerant will work ok when the heat is not too bad, but when temps are high, the efficiency will drop.

Great news! It was just low. Even though the fill gauge said it was good. It’s a dual air system so it takes 2 lbs of Freon. The pressure actually came down a bit when properly full added a whole pound.
