And it can be any brand?

Yes, any brand. However, I would take your Durango to a professional. They would test the system for leaks, do the repairs, then evacuate before recharging to the proper poundage. Plus, any Freon still left in your A/C will be captured and not just released into the atmosphere.

If the system needs freon, something is wrong. it doesn't leak or vanish.

get it checked out, you can end up throwing a lot of money at it without ever fixing it.

Check the underhood sticker to be sure. Manufactures are switching over to the new stuff, but it seems to be hit and miss which vehicles and why. WE had 2 mustangs in the shop in the last 3-4 weeks of the same year model and they used different refrigerant. Not sure but I dont think it is available in parts stores yet. Also takes a different connection than the 134 system.
