You just made my day! Mine is just a big empty plastic box. Measures about 10W x 13L x 8D. Will be plenty of room to put a sealed box for the 8" I want to use. This will definitely solve the age old problem of trying to get the sub stage up front in SUVs.

Now, I wonder what other goodies my truck has that I've never seen? :)
Also what sub you thinking of using..

I'm going post some more pics of the system again, and location of my bass knob.

Cambo.
I'm gonna have someone help me hold the box, while I measure the dimensions. I think that would help a lot of people that wants a box like this.
That was a great suggestion from you.
That would be great when you do please start a new thread for sub woofer under driver seat. This is great support for audiophiles, Rockford makes an 8'' sub model p-1S4-8 that only needs .2 - .3 cu feet I could easily relocate the module and remove the plastic holder

I was thinking of just buying a new sub and running the wire from the stock sub to that location . When your under the seat take a look to see if they moved the wire bundles , the blue arrow points to them. It looks like you can maximize the height for the sub enclosure if moved and I was curious to know if they did it. My D has heated, cooled seats and heated wheel that is most likely what that module is. In the picture below its slipped out of the plastic holder and could easily be relocated . I think the reason for the bracket is the heated seats and wheel operate partially by some type of thermostat. Heated seats only come on when its below a certain temperature and the heated wheel seems to drop to a cooler temp as the truck interior warms up.

Use caution with this module. Generally speaking, yellow wires/terminations indicate SRS/Airbag systems on autos.

Has anyone confirmed what purpose it serves? Based on the location, I suspect it may be elated to side impact airbags or maybe be a controller for the airbag deployment system for the bags located within the seats.

If relocating this mystery module, it may be worth securely mounting it in its new place, not just "tucking it away". If it s determined this is a non essential controller module of some sort, it's not as big of a deal obviously.

Yeah I'm gonna start a new trend. Most likely sub box under driver seat or something in that nature.

that box under your seat isn't for the heated seats and steering wheel, I got that feature also.

When I do start it I'll post here that I did.

Wow  If that's the case the ground pounding 8'' sub would wreak havoc on that thing hopefully someone can chime in that knows what the mystery box is.

mohelp - yep, know all about the flashlight. :) The sub I'm looking at is the Sundown Audio SD-2 8". It's supposed to be a beast that can fit in as little as .25 cu ft sealed, but works best in .4 cu ft.

Cambo - I have the yellow box attached to the bottom of the seat, like you. But I don't have the module you circled. Is yours 4wd? Mine is 2wd, and I have the heated and cooled seats, but don't have the adaptive cruise or DVD players. Not sure if that box is related to those or not.

AWD model no adaptive cruise or DVD . It does have memory seats could be the memory module for the power seats. The dealer mentioned that yellow connectors have to do with air bags that looks like the connecter attached to the bottom of the seat.

Hmm - I have memory seats as well. I'll take another look today to see if mine is hidden anywhere under there.

Ordered my sub yesterday! Now I just need to install my MS-8, then build the box. If there were any decent audio shops around me, I'd just take it there. But, I haven't found one that anyone likes yet, so my garage it is. At least that way, if I mess it up, I only have myself to blame. :)

Hey Juice75 if you build the box keep us posted on the size

I don't have blind assist , would like it this D is so dam long that is why the sub needs to be under the seat not in the storage compartment

Do you plan on adding an amp ? if so the old space from the sub? it seems tempting to just run the old sub wires up to an amp grab power from the battery under the seat and a short run of the sub control knob under the dash

some pics from someone else that did it

Thanks for the pics! Is there a write up that goes along with them?

Right now, I have an Alpine MRV-M500 running a 10" sitting in a box behind the 3rd row. Had a shop install the amp, but not completely happy with the work. The used a line out converter to take the sub signal, and convert that to RCA to the amp. Right now, the amp is sitting in the rear storage. My master plan....once I find time....is to pull out the stock sub, put the MS-8 and amp where the sub was, and put the new sub under the driver seat. I already have a bass knob installed to the left of the SD reader.

When I do all of this, I might cut out the 'Alpine' cover of the storage compartment and build a removable lid, so that I can easily get to the MS-8 and amp for adjustments. Of course, I'll take tons of pics when I finally get around to it.
