The engine cover is one of those love it or hate it propositions. Some like the looks, while others say it hides the beauty of the engine and keeps heat from escaping.

On the Charger Pursuits, they came with them early on, but when Dodge found that many departments were immediately removing and sometimes throwing them away, so they stopped supplying them.

My '20 SXT Durango has a cover on the 3.6L engine, and so far it remains.

I don't know anyone who would think that it covers the beauty of the engine.
Now without the cover for me and a lot of people I've worked with over the years in the auto body business think otherwise. I've had people come back to the shop thinking we forgot to replace the engine cover, not so much on the new vehicle's and there right it looks like crap all you see is a big black piece of plastic with the mounts for the cover nothing beautiful about that.

 

It's a case of you say potato, and I say potaato. Different strokes for different folks. What do you like on your baked potato?
I prefer butter and sour cream, while my good friend and neighbor would replace the sour cream with Ranch dressing.

If you are a real car guy you would want people to see the Hemi emblem on either side of the engine cover, not just a black piece of plastic. Anyone who's says that looks better is full of crap.

 

I leave mine off just in case it keeps the intake cooler...but I do prefer to see "HEMI" when I open the hood.

 

Even on a used Durango I want to see the cover unless there is an aluminum intake manifold.

 

 

You tell me which potato is better.

 

Definitely need a cover.

 

I hate how the 5.7 has the evap purge solenoid like literally in your face when you open the hood.

 

I have one you can have free if you are close by.

When I picked up my '24 RT+ a few weeks ago, I opened the hood and no engine cover. I had the salesman grab a couple of keys to some other RT's and we looked around until we found one and swiped it.

 

Ditch the alien helmet for a set of these....

 

How often are you guys opening the hood just to look at it

 

If my engine bay looked like this I would be opening the hood all the time...

 

LoL I remember back in the day having to open the hood every cold start to shove something to in the carb to keep the choke open. Then around every couple of months to mess with the points. Although I still open the hood every fill-up to check the oil.

 

Same here. I'm still old school. While checking the oil, I've had a few folks at the gas station ask me if everything was ok...

 

THIS is the engine cover I want to see when I pop the hood on my Dodge Durango.

 

Agreed 100%! I want to see this too when I open my hood.

 

I gather the cover missing is another cost cutting/de-contenting move?

 

Couldn't just leave it stock....

 

If you want more customization you could buy and paint the PCM cover.
