2024+ Durango (Next Gen) Rumors

3108 Views 45 Replies 25 Participants Last post by  Rick H.
Dealer told me the next gen DD will be based on Jeep Wagoneer, which is obviously a larger vehicle with a standard I-6. He said it will be toned down some, luxury-wise, to come in lower than the $90k starting price on the JGW.
Has anyone else heard these rumors or have any updates on the future for the DD?

Yes, a known story. It's supposed to have the turbo inline 6 in it.
I do not think it is based on the grand wagoneer. Rather the wagoneer which is a new model coming in 2024 7 passenger mid size LUXURY SUV. It will share the platform with the 2024 Durango.
At least that is what I got out of reading some :)censored:) info .LOL
That makes more sense, I forgot about the new inline 6.

If they ever make a non-electric version of the new Charger it might use the inline 6 as well or some kind of hybrid.

You mean the EV Jeep Wagoneer concept?

The Wagoneer is out now with the I-6, recently got a good review from Motor Trend. I can see how it could be the next Durango. 400+hp, 10k lb towing.

I'll have to look at that article. Thanks!
I'm looking forward to the Hurricane I-6, but just PLEASE don't make it UGLY like the Jeep.

Just like the review that FU-Connect 5 had. I wonder.

Plus it has the optional passenger side screen, even more chance for opportunities.

GW and Wagoneer sales are falling. We don't need another expensive SUV. Base the new Durango on the GC-L only with a lot more aggressive styling. Dodge needs more moderately priced cars and SUV's . GC's are sitting on the lots because they bumped the price so high. Everybody doesn't want a Jeep.
I don't want an 75k+ Durango based on the ugly Wagoneer.
Stellantis is in trouble because they are pricing their vehicles so high.
I'll take the current gen Durango over the GC any day.

Not comparing quality rather features and price. There are lots of mid size SUVs that out rank the new Jeeps.

Part of the decision process I wrestled with in pulling the trigger on our RT TNG, which I am smitten with , was "do it now, or wait for the GC to get the Hurricane". I was not considering a new 24 Durango, and only the possibility of a GC with the Hurricane, which is slated to happen some time.

I'm personally thankful to have snagged the one we got, cause IMHO with many FCA/now Stellantis platform and model life cycles, they really seem to save the best for last. In other words, they sure seem to take their time in bringing to market the most they can do with something. For instance, consider how long it took them to finally materialize a WB variant for the Chally and Charger. Also, when the new GC first came out, they offered it, briefly, with the 5.7, and then suddenly pulled it. Now I'm not hating, but for me personally, I knew I'd never, ever spend good money on a brand new GC with the 3.6 Pentastar.

Anyhoo, I know I must sound like a broken record to some by now, but after having owned a "regular body" Scat Pack Charger, then a WB Scat Pack Challenger, and now the TNG, I honest to God personally enjoy the AWD TNG with its 5.7 the most. To me, in my subjective, personal, biased opinion, it's pretty much the MOPAR V8 Goldilocks. :)
