2021 DD Uconnect 5C 10.1" System Issues/Glitches (Share your experiences)

I figured I would start this thread to see what issues people are running into. I'm sure many of these will be worked out quickly but wanted to see is others are having the same issues I am.

1) Yesterday, my screen became completely unresponsive. It would not acknowledge any screen touches. This went on for 5 minutes and continued after a reboot of the system. Eventually it just started working on its own again. It started when my apple car play started up.

2) Performance pages are glitchy. They seem to crash when I select the certain performance page I want to view. Without fail, the G Force page crashes and reverts to the home page every time I click on it.

3) I am unable to add more than one profile. I called Uconnect and they said an update will be pushed out soon to add up to 5 profiles. Is everyone having this issue?

4) Screen not dimming when headlights are on while using apple carplay. It seems like its on full bright even when headlights are on only when on the car play screen.

I just confirmed, the guardian services trial is 1 year, xm radio is 6 months. Weird they both used to be a year.

The remote services are great I agree. Especially while free. After that it’s quite expensive I think about 220$ a year. Gets questionable then.

For me it’s great as I can now see my sons vitals from my phone, gas level oil life mileage and tire pressure.

Getting back on track though, I’m really not happy about not having car play in my 21 dd while my sons dd car play works fine and my 19 challenger worked fine too lol.

I really hope there is a software update soon

Really getting annoyed without car play here and no firm time frame for the fix.

That’s correct if you mean from the phone/app. One year free then they want you to pay. Of course you still have remote start from the key fob. It does also have some other useful items like fuel level, oil life, tire pressure but not sure it’s worth 220$ a year

But worse than paying for this after a year is still the fact that I cannot use car play!!!! This is ridiculous

what we need more importantly is this darn car play to work already...... that bothers me much more and I hope this software update comes soon.

@Heat00 I know this will irk you to no end, but my CarPlay has been pretty good since the dealer did their stuff. I dunno which way to point you but I know mine has had 95% flawless connection issues since the dealer looked at it with @DodgeCares starting the escalation for me. Honestly, the random issue is that it takes 1.5 min to connect instead of immediately. But that is like once every 5 times. Otherwise, I am happy.

Thank you Courtney. I will try a reset tonight just in case it's simple. It's just difficult to get to a dealer and lose the car for a day. I was told (here anyways) that there will be an OTA update that will fix this, do you know if that's true? If so, then I'd prefer to just wait for that...

And thank you Jeff! If I didn’t read your response I probably wouldn’t have tried a full delete and re connect , which for now fixed the issue.

i wish i knew but I'm not familiar with android... although I can relate when car play wasn't working it was terrible not getting them and seeing them on the screen... hope you get it resolved

If you go into the Bluetooth settings, you should see a settings gear next to your Durango's Bluetooth connection. Pick that. On the setting screen you should see controls which determine whether the phone will treat that connection as a media player, a phone, allow text messages, and contacts access.
What do you see on that screen?

I was told by Uconnect to expect two separate updates any day now. One to address functionality of apps and one to address connectivity issues. Uconnect 4 does not have the capability of over the air updates and its several years old. Its about as up to date as it will ever be. Uconnect 5 was released incomplete with missing functions and now has the ability of over the air updates due to the fact that its android based. Updates should be much more frequent with Uconnect 5 in general.

I am in a similar situation with Android Auto and I am starting to get pretty frustrated. I bought the 2021 Durango mainly because the whole android auto wireless and not having to take my phone out of my pocket. I was deciding between the Durango and the Hyundai Palisade but was told the Palisade wouldn't work wireless if it has the navigation package. So I went with the Durango thinking I was good to go. Problem is it literally never works without some sort of interaction from me like toggling wifi or bluetooth. The whole point was to keep my phone in my pocket. I have reached out to Dodge and have been told my Galaxy s20+ with Android 11 was the issue. However, my wife has an s10 and it does the exact same thing. I have done a factory reset on both my Durango and my phone. Works for less than a day and then it stops. Wondering if there are any updates.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, my battery saver is off. I would be happy if it just did it in crowded area. It goes on an endless connection area alert where it says to toggle wifi and bluetooth on and off. When I do that it works sometimes but not always. The whole point of AA wireless is so I do not have to take the phone out of my pocket. Just doesnt work for me.

Good luck if you take it to a dealer. My dealer had not even seen the Uconnect 5 in a Durango yet. The were absolutely clueless! I laughed when the service advisor didn't know anything about Sirius Guardian or Uconnect Market. Speaking of Uconnect Market, has anyone been able to activate it through the "Activate Services" app? Mine just gives me an error after putting in my name and email address.
