I figured I would start this thread to see what issues people are running into. I'm sure many of these will be worked out quickly but wanted to see is others are having the same issues I am.

1) Yesterday, my screen became completely unresponsive. It would not acknowledge any screen touches. This went on for 5 minutes and continued after a reboot of the system. Eventually it just started working on its own again. It started when my apple car play started up.

2) Performance pages are glitchy. They seem to crash when I select the certain performance page I want to view. Without fail, the G Force page crashes and reverts to the home page every time I click on it.

3) I am unable to add more than one profile. I called Uconnect and they said an update will be pushed out soon to add up to 5 profiles. Is everyone having this issue?

4) Screen not dimming when headlights are on while using apple carplay. It seems like its on full bright even when headlights are on only when on the car play screen.

I still don't get an update notification, and when I plug my VIN into the UConnect "check to see if your software is up to date" website, it says I'm up to date. Wonder if it has to do with build date? In any event I don't have the option for more than one profile. For those that have added additional profiles - does it tie UConnect preferences as well as eat and mirror adjustments to the profile?

Ours just wouldn't turn on one time when we started the 21 RT. Shut the durango completely off, locked, unlocked, started again and it's been fine since.

I do see an option for creating a second profile but haven't actually tried to do so just yet. Perhaps will give it a shot tonight and see what happens.

@kjjb0204 , could you please send a pic of the option to add a second profile and your UConnect software Version Information from your Settings? Thanks!

While taking our road trip to Ouray around Christmas, we did experience a weird glitchy shut down followed by a reboot, but haven't experienced that again. It was like the power was shorting out for a brief second, and then off.

1) While mine hasn't been unresponsive for that duration, I seem to experience where my screen is "picky" with my touches. I haven't taken off the protector yet (still pretending in my mind its a brand new vehicle), so that may be my problem.

2) I experience the exact same thing. GForce will come up if I am standing still at a light or something, but while moving it will crash back to the Performance Pages home.

3) I have been watching you ask for this and always forget to try when I get into the DD. My wife has had her phone connected in device manager, and we have the button 2 phones checked, but I am sure you're talking about the profile for each which is what I have done plus more, IIRC. So I am a bonehead as I keep forgetting to do this. Ugh. Sorry.

4) This is not my experience. My screen dims impressively, and I saw that the first night I drove the DD home. I cannot remember if I toggled a setting, or if it was that way by default. I am leaning to default that way, but I honestly don't remember.

5) My Apple CarPlay is kind of a PITA and it is a little frustrating. Until the weird glitchy shut down thing, I remember it very responsive and connected very fast. Since then (but not consistently) it has behaved weird. If it doesn't automatically connect immediately, I can switch to the device manager mode and watch it spin the red circle like it is trying, but sometimes I have made it all the way to work (20 min) without a connection. On occasion it will ask me to make sure the device has CarPlay enabled, and in range, but I change nothing on my iPhone between times--CarPLay is enabled and BT is on, etc. What I notice is weird is that sometimes the WiFi on my iPhone has an "android 12345" named connection (I didn't get the numbers correct--going from memory) and the bluetooth for UConnect is not connected. Other times, it keeps connecting to the UConnect Bluetooth and there is no WiFi connection. There is no real rhyme or reason that I have discovered yet, as when it does connect I just drive along happy. Once connected Apple CarPlay works fairly well. Every now and then the music will glitch for a fraction of a second but then keeps playing. Aside from that, I can't complain as it does what it should.
The connection is what bothers me. I have even tried having it do CarPlay via USB 1, but I still see very similar results. I have tried just doing music via Bluetooth, then pushing the CarPlay button to get it to connect CarPlay with mixed results. My phone is an iPhone X, but it is updated and otherwise has no issues that would indicate it is a phone based problem for the connection. Anyone else seeing #5?

I did see one night as I pulled into the garage an update that it said was available, but I shut the DD down without pressing buttons, so I don;t know if it took or not.

Hi, I'm sorry to hear this. Please let me know if you plan on visiting a dealership for this concern. I would be happy to open a case for you.

Hello Alison. Unfortunately I don't have time this week to stop by the dealer this week. I am going to try to tolerate it until an update is issued. As for the issue with the missing "Add Profile" button, can you confirm that this is indeed a known problem and you can only have one user profile for the time being?

#11 ·
Hi! Yes, there is a benefit to having your concerns diagnosed by the dealership. Once you are able to make an appointment for your concern then I will be able to get a case open for you. This case allows us to track concerns with the vehicle and alert our internal teams when a concern needs to be addressed. Unfortunately, the time needed at the dealership would depend on the concern as well as the dealership itself. I would recommend reaching out to them and seeing if they could give you an estimated timeline.

I have two phones paired with my Uconnect--Iphone 12 Pro (personal) and Samsung S20+ (Work). These are issues I have experienced in the month of owning it:

1. Sometimes the volume for the music doesn't work. Switching sources doesn't do anything (Sirus, FM, bluetooth). I have switched to my Iphone and then the volume works. I then switch back to my Samsung (I prefer Android Auto) and everything works fine.
2. I have only had the screen being not responsive happen one time. I turned off the Durango, opened the door, closed the door and restarted it and everything was fine.
3. One night, I couldn't get the Uconnect to connect to either of my phones. It keep dropping the connection, would reconnect, within 30 seconds drop the signal and the repeat over and over and over and over...........
4. I can't comment on the performance pages--I don't use them.

These are the only issues I have had so far.

My issue is that the phones that I have paired with the vehicle intermittently disconnect from UConnect 5, then automatically reconnect. Very frustrating. Alison, I've notified my dealership that when the part they needed to order to fix an error message (present when I went to pick up the vehicle) comes in, I want them to investigate this issue also. Once I get that appointment set up, I will let you know.

I dropped mine at the dealer today to have them take a look. The service rep told me that their service manager is an electronics guru and will be looking into it personally. I also had a very slight leak in my rear window I’m having them look at, but hopefully I will update here this afternoon with any news.

#20 ·
Any updates or info from this visit to the dealership?

Also, is anyone else seeing improved reliability of their phone to UConnect 5 connection the more you drive it? Mine seems to not be dropping off anymore, but haven't done more than a 10-15 minute drive in the past week, so may not mean it's gotten better.

Mine just went in to the dealership today to be fully evaluated. And everybody is aware that it is being escalated. It was all over the paperwork for the escalation. The shop foreman at the dealer is supposed to be a pretty big guru for the electronic stuff so hopefully it’ll all work in the right direction.

I picked up my 21 RT last month. When I got it the UConnect system was SUPER glitchy. Crashed almost every time I got in the car. Seems that messing with too many settings caused it to freak out. One time I turned the car on and put it in reverse and the system went totally black, nothing. Forcing a reboot by holding down the volume nob temporarily fixed the issue but going back into all the options again caused it to crash. I also had the not dimming issue.

I hooked the system up to my home wifi and last week there was an update. I let it go through the update process and since then it hasn't had any problems. So far so good. Drove it the other night and everything was good so hoping that update took care of the issues.

I would not take this to the dealer. Just wait for software updates.

Thanks my plan right now. Its nothing a dealer can fix at this point I am thinking.

I’ll jump on the dealer “grenade” for all of us then. [emoji38] Hopefully it’ll net an update that actually does fix all of our issues. The data is being used by FCA software folks, so I’m optimistic.
Mine is also at the dealership to have the "telematics module box" replaced. When I picked it up it was giving an error message on the UConnect display on startup. So while it's there, I asked them to check into the intermittent phone to UConnect issue (which, thanks to Alison, had already been escalated and was in their system). Will let you know what they find ( or don't find).

Just had a thought - will one of you that has downloaded an update or has the ability to load more than one profile take a pic of your software version or build number from the settings menu and post it? Mine is at the dealership but I do rember it ended in "PROD". Anxious to see what other versions are out there, and why mine still shows up as "Up to Date" in the system with the factory loaded, one profile-only version.

So I got my D back from the dealership today. They replaced the telematics module box, and said that could have been the cause of the phones intermittently disconnecting from UConnect. I think the telematics module box is more to do with sending vehicle health data off board to the UConnect app on my phone, but hey, we'll see. I was also happy to receive a follow up call from Dodge Cares because Alison had escalated my case. They knew exactly what the dealership had done and we're calling to see if I agreed the problem was fixed. I said so far, so good, but too early to tell since it's an intermittent problem. But since he's a UConnect guy, I asked about why we don't have the ability to add up to 5 profiles. He said to his knowledge, any vehicle with UConnect 5shouldnbe able to add up to 5 profiles. I relayed that a couple guys on this forum can add multiple profiles, but most of us can't. He said he'll relay to his hardware and software teams and get back to me. So when he does, I'll pass on what he says.

I am the owner of a 21 Citadel which I purchased 8 weeks ago. I also can not add more than one profile. I have put in a complaint to Chrysler about the profiles on the uconnect. They called me and said they are aware of the problem and will close out my ticket. I got annoyed because I see it as closing out my ticket was saying you are washing your hands with the problem. They did say that there will be an update......still waiting for that update

Y'all are freaking me out, I have a 21' Tow N Go on order for early March delivery. Allison, I trust Stellantis will have addressed software hiccups like this by the time I get mine in hand? This is unacceptable - I don't have time to go back and forth to my dealer who's 45 min away. This looks like a Jaguar Rover forum now, ughhh.

The mainreason I brought mine back to the dealership was on the day I picked it up, on startup, the UConnect display had an error code that said return to service department. This is really something the dealership should have discovered, not me. They scanned it and the code told them to order a telematics module box. It came in, so I brought it in so they could replace it. I had already escalated the phone intermittent disconnect issue through Alison, so they were aware of it.

I got my DD back yesterday. Turns out, they were able to load an update that supposedly was released yesterday and all is well. The performance pages does not crash when attempting to access g-force when it did before. My phone connected 3 different times immediately when getting in and starting the car.
The dealer said due to the escalation, if the Uconnect reverts at all to what it was doing before, Chrysler will replace the radio — no questions. As it was a STAR case, he said they don’t mess around.
The whole ride from the dealer to dinner was fine—performance pages loaded, Apple CarPlay connected fine and everything seemed to be fine. Time will tell, but I felt they had done a pretty decent job of looking into the problem.
Hopefully the update helps others.

Build number is FCA-MY21.R14B.61-PROD

I only have one profile. There is not a button to add profiles. I have to searched more than the profile page—like settings etc.

Dealer said new update downloaded yesterday and corrected my previous issues.

My case was escalated and I was getting updated from Tiffany at STAR daily.

I recall last summer debates here about whether or not UC5 would be glitchy. Even the best software companies have issues with new releases. This is an entirely predictable outcome, I can't believe people argued otherwise. However, FCA does care and it will be resolved, so no need to get all bunched up about it...particularly before you even get your DD!

Many of the features just need to be explored. I just found out today from just playing with it in the car wash that the screen dimming is a controllable feature. Default or manual, whether with headlights or not. So, unless a radio is void of this parameter in settings (like multiple radios have lacking of adding multiple profiles) screen dimming is there. I spent 10 minutes goofing around with setting and only looked at 30% of them.
Getting all worked up won’t help. Like I’ve always said—worrying is like rocking in a rocking chair. Sure, it gives you something to do, but it doesn’t get you anywhere.

So at this point I'm happy to say I don't still have the problem where my phones would randomly disconnect and reconnect to the UConnect 5. Alos checked the Performance Pages and no issues with the g page crashing or any other problems noted. Of course, I still can't add additional profiles, which irritates me. Especially when the UConnect user guide that came in the glove box says you can add up to five.

When I first picked it up it from the dealership it gave an error message on the UConnect 5 display every time it started up, something like "Connection error - see your service representative". So they scanned it and the code told them it was a bad telematics module box. I took it to the dealership when the part came in so they could replace it. They said whatever was wrong with the box could have caused the phones to drop in and out of connection. And they stay connected all the time now.

Well, I spoke too soon. I've been driving with the phone connected as a UConnect phone (i.e. NOT an Android Auto device) because I like the UConnect interface better than the Android Auto interface. But today, I connected as an Android Auto device and it dropped and (after 15-20 seconds) regained connection 4 times in 35 minutes of driving. [emoji35]
