Hey All, just illuminating lightly called dealer for replacement bulb they said the entire headlight needs to be replaced for $1k!!! This is ridiculous! Anyone else have this problem and did you try to have dealer replace for free? i have not called dealer yet, hoping they will do at no charge. Thank you for any input.

Yes, this is all true and several folks here are having the same issue. You can turn Daytime lights off in FUConnect but if you have an warranty left I would press Dodge to replace it since it's becoming a common issue.

Hi Rachel:
Sorry to hear of your failed DRL. I seem to recall there was a run on these a ways back. If I recall correctly, Dodges remedy is to replace the entire housing for huge coin unless you are under warranty.
My '20 SXT Plus does not have them, and for this reason I'm glad!

Rachel:
If you are under the 3/36 warranty call the dealer, make an appt, and let them deal with it. What is the year/model/mileage of your Durango?

Don

It’s a 21 R/T and I just hit 60,000 I would have to look over my warranty but anything electrical should be covered…
Do you have an extended warranty and if yes, which level is it? If you don't have an extended warranty then it is not covered and will be out of pocket for you.

Rachel:
Unless you bought a warranty extension on the 3/36 part of it, they won't cover it. The 5/60 powertrain is quite narrow and relates to the big ticket items like the engine, transmission, front/rear differentials etc. Such electronics are not part of the powertrain.

There is always a slight chance they might help you out via a goodwill repair. It never hurts to ask.

It's a known issue with them. Usually it totally goes out so you at least have a shot at trying to figure it out. It might be a failure at a connection to the light or at the other end of the circuit. Most of them just go out permanently and it always seems to be the driver side, never the passenger side.

My 2 yr old Durango with 100k has the drivers headlight running light out, rear racetrack out and waterlogged, left headlight is sweating, random hard starts, fob stopped working and the tailgate motor stopped. Total cost to fix it all, $5400. These cars are the biggest mistake you will ever make. Avoid them like the plague. Absolute fucking garbage.

You just got one made on a bad day. Those issues normally don't all crop up in one vehicle. You would have been prime for an extended warranty, but who knew? The racetrack is a known issue since 2014, the driver headlight is a known issue never addressed since 2021 and the hard start has been reported quite a bit lately, but just usually not all on the same car. Since different parts of the line put these various parts on, I would say it was (bad) luck of the draw in the parts lottery. There were tons of parts shortages after 2020 so who knows where they might have sourced some of this from.

You don't mention what model of Durango you have. But, 100k in 2 years is well above the Canadian national average of 15,200km per year. So, yeah, some shit is going to fail.

Left headlight and driver's headlight are the same thing, at least to a mechanic.

Considering the prices (USD) listed for those parts are higher than your quoted price (does that include labor), have it repaired. Then sell your "absolute fucking garbage" Durango and be done with it.

I have a 2021 Dodge Durango and my driver side daylight running lights just went out too. I’m at 48k miles and I have an extended electrical warranty but the dealership just told me it’s not covered! Part alone is $1500! Super frustrating! I don’t understand how it would not be included in an electrical warranty?
