2021 AC whistle noise

Hi I purchased a new 2021 Durango a few months ago & whenever I use the AC I hear a low pitch whistle. Is this normal? I have had the car in for service twice, the first time they filled up the freon & the second time they changed the condessor as they thought there might have been a leak. I was told there was no more noise but as soon as I drove it, I could hear it, just much lower then before. Is this a normal noise for the Dodge? It's my first Dodge, so curious if anyone has experienced this and if there's a fix? Thanks

Do you hear the whistle in the cabin? Does it change with cabin fan speed is increased to slowed?
If it is coming from inside the cabin, is it your rear AC (roof) vents or the vents behind the front console (for the second row seating)

Make sure the from instrument panel vents are fully opened

Make sure the vents behind the center console(for the 2nd row) are fully opened.

If the vents are fully opened and make no difference then if the whistling is stil heard, make sure the cabin air fitler door is properly latched and not causeing the whistling due to a leaky door.

Still a problem? Remove the cabin air filter and look for debris that may be causing it. Replace the filter and secure the filter door latch.

If still a problem, someone at a different dealership needs to pinpoint the whistle noise location and correct it.

I've had my 2021 for over a year and I've had a low pitch "whistle" since new. Like a pressurized "whistle" that does not change pitch. Bought with 5 miles. No issues with the A/C aside from that. Sounds like it comes from the center console area. I just ignore it the best I can since it hasn't caused any issues.

Thank you, mine is brand new too.

Reading your thread here and I’m wondering if you hear any difference when using the seat fans? Whenever I turn on the drivers seat fan I get that high pitched whistle, and it increases when I accelerate. I also bought my 2021 new with 7 miles on it, but when I take it in they always tell me they can’t fix a problem they can’t verify.

I don’t have a chance to be taking it in every time I hear it either because I am usually driving it to or from work 20 miles away, by the time I get it there, apparently it’s magically fixed.

Took my car 2022 Durango in multiple times to get this issue fixed. The whistling noise seems to get louder when the gas is pressed especially from a stop and go. So far I had the dealership replace the ac compressor, ac blower and now it’s in the shop again and this time they’re replacing the ac line. Each time they said it was fixed it wasn’t. Hopefully this time it’s fixed 🤞🏻

It is so sad that anyone would think having your ride stuck at the dealer for 2 month sucks. Dealers do not give a crap and neither does Dodge. If Dodge did, they would tell the dealer straighten up or lose your franchise license.

All manufacturers are dropping in customer satisfaction and quality. Good luck to ya.

I agree but I went to two different dealerships and trying to talk to the service advisor is like pulling teeth. I have to call multiple times for a call back and when I get that phone call to pick up the vehicle the car isn’t fixed. There’s no reason it’s been almost two months and my car isn’t fixed. I’m paying for car insurance and a car note for no reason.

interesting thread. I do notice sometimes if driving slow through a neighborhood, or pull up to a stoplight, if you have the fan speed on low, you can hear that low whine when the Compressor cycles on.
I think the Compressor cycles on and off to often, but I think it's the newer systems that do that. If you are driving down the road you don't hear it.
One of these days I may put a set of gauges on the system and see if it is charged properly.
I usually don't use the AC, I'm a window down type, but with wifee in the Durango, don't mess my hair up, AC on.
Meh.
AC works great cold as ice.
