What’s going on everyone , my 17 Durango is giving me a hard time. It runs and drives but it randomly doesn’t want to start. I try to start it and it just cranks but no start . I get under the vehicle and mess with harness close to fuel tank which I assume goes to the fuel pump and it kicks on an after a few seconds. Once it’s on it doesn’t turn off. Been told could be crankshaft position sensor , fuel pump, or fuel pump harness itself . NEED HELP PLS ITS DRIVING ME CRAZY

Do you mean that you, at times, can't turn the engine off? That would be odd. It however sounds like you're heading for a new fuel pump for the non-start issue. Try pushing the start button with your foot OFF the brake so that the pump can prime and then see if it starts each time after you do that. If so, then it's probably a weak pump.

it’s just issues with turning on at times but now it’s doing it more often. It cranks and almost like it wants to turn on but shuts right off. After second try it just cranks and cranks with no start. But to me it’s weird because I get under the vehicle mess with wires that seems to be going up to the fuel pump hit the gas tank then it starts . When that issue occurs I don’t even hear the pump come on . When it kicks on then I get a strong odor of fuel when it turns on

Then you might have a burned harness at the pump which is another known issue. You should have a shop look into it for you as the pump or harness repair both require the tank to be dropped.

If it were crank/cam sensors you would have a stored code. Get the free version of alfaobd and a obd dongle and scan for codes. The fuel pump harness should not be a problem on the 2017 as I think it only passenger cars had the issue. But there are folks you have a longer than usual startup which IIRC there was a TSB for but did not include 2017s.

Go here and you can search for TSBs and Recalls.

Thank you so much I was having this problem this morning and the pushing the button with no brake seemed to fix the problem . I did go immediately and get some chevron fuel system cleaner as well as filled up the tank so fingers crossed this fixes it until I can get into the shop. I do have max care and it is covered it's just a pain with dealing with the dealership and the warranty people . Thanks again!!
